Colby Covington calls out Kamaru Usman for wrestling match at RAF

Covington wants to settle the score with Kamaru
Usman, but in wrestling. 

Covington recently called out Usman for a wrestling match at Real
American Freestyle. While Usman is currently rallying for a

UFC welterweight title shot, Covington is ready to wrestle him
if he can’t secure the gold bid. Covington believes Usman would be
interested in the proposition, despite having beaten him twice in
the UFC. “Chaos” disputes his title losses against Usman – the
first one as an early stoppage, and the rematch as a decision
robbery.

‘It’s a Huge Matchup’

“I’d like to see Usman in Real American Freestyle,” Covington
recently told Bloody Elbow. “We need to settle the trilogy in RAF.
If Usman doesn’t get the title fight, come see daddy at Real
American Freestyle and let’s do this trilogy, bitch… I think he
would take the challenge – he’s a competitor, he likes to compete.
He still has that fire and drive; he wants these title fights, he
wants these big matchups. It’s a huge matchup, there’s a huge
market for RAF right now… I think he wants to settle the score.
He’s said for a while that he wants a trilogy with me. We’ve got
unfinished business. The first fight was a scam, I kicked him in
the liver, it was called a nut shot and then it was an early
stoppage. I clearly stood up and protested right away. The second
fight — a lot of people had me winning that fight 3-2 at Madison
Square Garden. So let’s settle this in RAF.”

  Covington (17-5) first suffered a stoppage loss against
Usman (21-4) in a failed welterweight title bid in 2019. Covington
then came up on the short side of a decision in their rematch in
2021. Covington has since gone 1-2 in the UFC and hasn’t competed
since a stoppage loss against Joaquin
Buckley in 2024. Covington has since defeated Luke
Rockhold in a wrestling match at RAF 5 this past January.
Meanwhile, Usman rebounded from a three-fight skid with a decision
win over Buckley in June 2025.
