The World Boxing Association and World Boxing Organization
cruiserweight world championship will be on the line tomorrow as
David Benavidez vs. Gilberto Ramirez is now set following the
official weigh-ins.
To celebrate Cinco de Mayo weekend, the anticipated 12-round boxing
fight will take place in Las Vegas on Saturday. The fight sees
Benavidez, an undefeated two-division world champion, move up in
weight for another championship shot against Ramirez, who holds two
cruiserweight world titles. Both men had no issue making weight for
the championship showdown.

Benavidez (31-0), who has held world championship status in the
super middleweight and light heavyweight divisions, looks to
continue challenging himself. “The Mexican Monster” most recently
knocked out Anthony Yarde and David Morrell. A heavy favorite
priced at 2/7, Benavidez weighed 196.8 pounds.
Looking to retain his belts and cause a stir in the boxing world
with an upset is Ramirez (48-1). “Zurdo” rebounded from the first
defeat of his career to Dmitry Bivol in 2022 by moving to
cruiserweight and claiming titles after beating Arsen Goulamirian
and Chris Billam-Smith by decision. He retained both titles last
year with a defense over Yuniel Dorticos. The Mexican fighter
weighed 200 pounds exactly for the championship clash.
Benavidez vs. Ramirez will air live on Dazn pay-per-view on
Saturday. The event starts at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, with the main
event ring walks expected for 11:20 p.m. ET/8:20 p.m. PT.
