Late Thursday night, MMA Junkie first reported that Ryan Hall has suffered an injury and has been forced to withdraw from his Aug. 29 scrap with Ricardo Lamas. The two were set to square off at UFC Fight Night 175, which will be held inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The promotion is currently seeking a replacement opponent for Lamas. The story has since been confirmed by multiple outlets.

The third part of One Championship’s return after the COVID-19 outbreak went down at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, on Aug. 21.

The main event of One Championship: No Surrender 3 featured Kulabdam Sor and Sangmanee Klong SuanPluResort competing for a shot at Nong-O Gaiyanghadao’s title in the second bantamweight semifinal of the One Muay Thai tournament. Kulabdam did not need long to solve the Sangmanee puzzle, as he rendered his opponent unconscious in the opening stanza with a crisp left hook on the chin. Kulabdam advanced to the Grand Prix final, where he will meet Saemapetch Fairtex.

In the co-main event, Mongkolpetch Petchyindee Academy overcame Sok Thy after three rounds of Muay Thai action in the flyweight division. The judges rewarded Mongkolpetch with a unanimous decision victory.

There is nothing quite like hearing fans cheering after a quick knockout in a main event.

Absolute Championship Akhmat returned with its first event with fans attending live at ACA 109, which went down in Lodz, Poland, on Aug. 20.

In the headliner, Rafal Haratyk (13-3-1) and Piotr Strus (15-6-2) locked horns in the middleweight division. Haratyk started strong and pushed the pace early, landing several clean combinations. One of Haratyk’s hooks shook his opponent and knocked him to the canvas, and once Haratyk smelled blood, he unleashed furious ground-and-pound. Even though Strus seemed to be still defending himself, the referee called a stop to the action at the 2:29 mark in the opening stanza. MMA Fighting first reported this story on Thursday, announcing that Gerald Meerschaert has been forced to pull out of his match with Ed Herman (25-14, 1 NC). The report first came out from Mexican outlet Milenio on Wednesday night, claiming that Thomas Almeida (21-3) will be stepping in the Octagon for the first time since early 2018 against Alejandro Perez (21-8-1). The two bantamweights will square off at the UFC Fight Night event on Oct. 10, which is slated to be held on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The first event with fans of ACA will take place on Thursday in Lodz, Poland, in the form of ACA 109. Due to COVID-19 precautions, the arena will be only be filled at half capacity. The promotion was not required by the governing body to test the combatants for COVID-19, but ACA decided it would test fighters before and after the events regardless of the local regulations in place.

ACA President Alexey Yatsenko explained to Sherdog about the organization’s plans, saying, “Poland was by the first country to develop a protocol that allows organizing competitions with fans. Recently in Poland new relaxations of the regime related to COVID-19 came into force.”

Jon Jones doesn’t necessarily need to get a win at heavyweight before he receives a title shot, but “Bones” will have to wait his turn behind current No. 1 contender Francis Ngannou.

During an appearance on SportsCenter, UFC president Dana White briefly discussed Jones’ prospects at heavyweight after the light heavyweight champion vacated his belt earlier this week. Perhaps the most interesting takeaway was that White believes Jones has the credentials to step into a championship bout immediately.

"[Jones is] the longtime light heavyweight champion. In my opinion he's the greatest of all time, and if he wants to come back and take a shot at the heavyweight championship, I wouldn't have a problem with that," White said. "But he can't just jump in front of Ngannou right now."

Former interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit will lock horns with Court McGee at the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Oct. 3 event.

Condit initially announced the booking on ”The Buck and Dex Podcast.” The card is expected to take place on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi and is headlined by a women’s bantamweight clash between Holly Holm and Irene Aldana.

Condit is currently on a five-bout skid that dates back to a split-decision loss against Robbie Lawler in a 170-pound title clash at UFC 195. In his last outing, “The Natural Born Killer” suffered a second-round submission loss to Michael Chiesa at UFC 232. The 36-year-old Albuquerque, New Mexico, native did not compete at all in 2019, as a detached retina forced him out of a showdown with Mickey Gall at UFC on ESPN 7.

A pivotal featherweight showdown between Chan Sung Jung and Brian Ortega is expected to headline an Ultimate Fighting Championship event on Oct. 17.

Milenio was first to report the booking, and it was later confirmed by ESPN. A location for the event has not yet been announced, but the card is also expected to include a women’s flyweight clash pitting Jessica Andrade against Jessica Eye.

A heavyweight showdown pitting Curtis Blaydes against Derrick Lewis will serve as the main event of a UFC card on Nov. 28.

Bellator 244 is now down one fight, as a proposed lightweight clash between Shane Kruchten and Lance Gibson Jr. has been removed from Friday’s card.

According to a promotion official, Kruchten was not licensed by the Mohegan Sun commission. MMAjunkie.com was first to report the cancellation.

Welshman Ben Ellis is taking on Kingsley Crawford in a 145-pound clash at the second of the three events Cage Warriors announced for its September return. A person with knowledge of the situation informed Sherdog about the matchup, which was then confirmed by a promotion official.

Ellis (2-0) is arguably one of the most promising young talents fighting out of Wales at the moment. He made his pro debut last year after a brilliant amateur career that ended with a record of 7-0.
