Anthony Pettis is looking at a lengthy layoff following his loss to Tony Ferguson at UFC 229, but it isn’t for the injury that halted their lightweight fight.
Pettis told his corner that he broke his hand following the second round of Saturday’s co-main event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, which resulted in a technical knockout victory for Ferguson. However, according to medical suspensions released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday, “Showtime” is suspended 180 days for a nasal fracture unless he is cleared by a doctor. Ferguson, meanwhile, emerged with a clean bill of health following the event.
Four other competitors from UFC 229 are also facing possible six-month sits: Dominick Reyes (left leg); Jalin Turner (nasal fracture); Scott Holtzman (right hand, right foot) and Alan Patrick Silva Alves (left orbital fracture).
