Chimaev’s UFC 328
weigh-in will always be marred by controversy.
Chimaev is scheduled to defend his middleweight title against
Sean
Strickland at UFC 328 on Saturday at the Prudential Center in
Newark, New Jersey. While making weight was a major issue for
Chimaev at welterweight, that issue was apparently addressed with
his move up to middleweight in 2022.

However, Chimaev appeared extremely drained while weighing in for
UFC 328. While Chimaev officially made weight, the weigh-in was
controversial. Chimaev stepped on the scale only for a few moments
before the officials called 185 — even before the scale settled.
Hawk-eyed fans didn’t fail to notice the hurried weigh-in for the middleweight
champion.
UFC bantamweight Bryce
Mitchell also accused Chimaev of missing weight. While Mitchell
didn’t directly accuse the UFC, he is certain that “Borz” didn’t
make weight. According to “Thug Nasty” Chimaev gets preferential
treatment. Mitchell recalled how the entire UFC 279 main card was
reshuffled after Chimaev missed the welterweight limit by a
whopping 7.5 pounds in 2022. Mitchell already considers Strickland
the champion and believes the scales are rigged against him as his
speech cannot be controlled.
Double Standard?
“I’ve been making weight since I was 17 years old,” Mitchell said
on Instagram. “I’m almost 32 now, it’s almost been 15 years. I know
what it looks like when somebody makes that weight. They have to
stand completely still. The bob on the scale has to balance. That
dude didn’t make that weight. There’s no convincing me. Jeffery
Epstein’s getting away with it. Aliens are gonna take over the
country and now Chimaev makes weight, it’s all bulls—t. That is not
what it looks like when somebody makes weight. I think they got it
out against Sean. And I’m not accusing the UFC. I don’t know who’s
who, what’s what. I’m just telling you, he didn’t make that weight.
Remember when Chimaev had that weight scandal also in the past. He
was supposed to be at 170, they bumped him up from 170 to 185, day
off. He gets special treatment. Bryce don’t. Bryce ain’t gonna get
no special treatment. If anything, the scales are rigged against
me. He didn’t make that weight and I think Sean’s champ already. So
I really think it’s rigged against Sean. They don’t want him to win
because they can’t control what he says and he loves
America.”
Mitchell moved down to bantamweight from featherweight following a
vicious knockout loss against Jean Silva
last year. Mitchell (18-3) has since earned a unanimous decision
win over Said
Nurmagomedov. Mitchell is now scheduled to fight Victor
Henry (25-7) at
UFC Fight Night 278 on June 6 in Las Vegas.
