318 on July 19 in front of his home fans at Smoothie King Center in
New Orleans. “The Diamond” recently revealed a special mouthguard
for his retirement fight to mark the end of a legendary career. The
Lafayette, Louisiana, native will compete wearing a diamond-themed
gumshield that says “Last Dance” in golden print. The piece was
presented to Poirier by Damage Control Mouthguards.

Poirier made his UFC debut in 2011 after the promotion acquired

World Extreme Cagefighting
. In his 30 trips to the Octagon,
Poirier has seen it all and faced the best consistently. Poirier
won an iconic trilogy against Conor
McGregor
, sending the Irishman into inactivity since 2021.
However, Poirier never realized his unified championship dreams
despite three shots, getting thwarted by Khabib
Nurmagomedov
, Charles
Oliveira
, and most recently, Islam
Makhachev
.

Poirier has already beaten Holloway twice, first via submission in
2012 and then by unanimous decision in 2019. Holloway will look to
rebound from a knockout loss against Ilia
Topuria
that snapped a three-fight winning streak.
