\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> heavyweight Mohammed
\nUsman<\/a> could not escape the investigation of the anti-doping
\nagents.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, the UFC announced in a joint statement<\/a> with drug-testing agency Combat Sports
\nAnti-Doping (CSAD) that Usman has been suspended after testing
\npositive for an exogenous source of testosterone. He was flagged on
\nSept. 8, 2025, which resulted in his removal from his bout against
\nValter
\nWalker<\/a> at UFC Fight Night 261 in October of last year.
\nAdditionally, Usman provided a false reason as to his failed test,
\nresulting in additional sanctions.<\/p>\n

As a result of that test and his admission of past use of the
\nsubstance as well as BPC-157\u2014an unapproved peptide<\/a> designed to improve the recovery
\nprocess, Usman will be suspended until April 2028. Normally, a
\nfighter would receive a two-year sentence, but Usman added
\n\u201caggravating circumstances\u201d by attempting to falsely claim its
\nsource and his regular use. Thus, the CSAD issued a sentence of two
\nyears and six months, since the heavyweight eventually owned up to
\nhis usage.<\/p>\n

Usman Ultimately Took Responsibility<\/h2>\n

The statement from CSAD reads as follows: \u201cCombat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD) announced today that Mohammed
\nUsman<\/a>, of Coral Springs, Florida, has accepted a 2-year and
\n6-month period of ineligibility for violations of the UFC
\nAnti-Doping Policy (UFC ADP).<\/p>\n

\u201cUsman tested positive for the presence of testosterone, a
\nprohibited at all times substance in the class of Anabolic Agents
\non the UFC prohibited list, from an out of competition sample
\ncollected from him on September 8, 2025, in Coral Springs, Florida,
\nUSA. Usman was previously removed from his scheduled bout in Rio de
\nJaneiro, Brazil, in October of last year due to the return of this
\npositive test days before the event. Usman ultimately admitted to
\nCSAD to the use of testosterone leading up to the Rio event, as
\nwell as the previous use of testosterone and the prohibited at all
\ntimes peptide, BPC-157, earlier in 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile Usman ultimately took responsibility for the above details,
\nhe did not do so in a timely fashion and not until CSAD confronted
\nhim with evidence they had independently collected during a
\ndetailed investigation of his use of these multiple prohibited
\nsubstances as well as his attempt to deceive CSAD with a false
\nexplanation. Under the UFC ADP, if a UFC athlete uses multiple
\nsubstances like Usman did and engages in deceptive or obstructive
\nconduct to avoid the adjudication of an Anti-Doping Policy
\nViolation like he did, then aggravating circumstances are
\ndetermined to exist. While aggravating circumstances can double a
\nstandard suspension, because Usman ultimately admitted to the
\nprohibited behavior, CSAD determined that a six-month addition to
\nthe standard 2-year suspension for using these substances was
\nappropriate for these aggravating factors.<\/p>\n

\u201cUsman\u2019s accepted suspension began on October 9, 2025, the day he
\nwas notified of the positive test, removed from the Rio de Janeiro
\ncard and provisionally suspended. The suspension will end on April
\n9, 2028.\u201d<\/p>\n
