\nTeixeira<\/a> was in Las Vegas last Saturday, where he attended
\nUFC
\n324<\/a> alongside Alex
\nPereira<\/a>. <\/p>\n

During a visit to the
\nUFC<\/a> Performance Institue, Teixeira met ex-lightweight champ
\nKhabib
\nNurmagomedov<\/a>. A video that went viral on social media and left
\nmany fans curious shows the two former champions doing a grappling
\ntraining session. But according to the Brazilian, it wasn’t a
\ntraining session.<\/p>\n

\u201cKhabib is an idol of the sport. Everyone wants to be like him,
\nAnderson, Jon Jones<\/a>,
\n\u2018Poatan\u2019 \u2014 they are all great idols. When I saw him there at the PI
\nleading a training session for his students, I took the opportunity
\nto ask him about a takedown he does by grabbing one leg,\u201d Teixeira
\nsaid. \u201cThen he grabbed my arm and said come here and showed me, and
\nwe joked around a bit and he gave me some pointers. Obviously, all
\nwith great respect, because when Khabib speaks, we stop to
\nlisten.\u201d<\/p>\n

Texeira didn’t give details of what was discussed between Pereira\u2019s
\nteam and the UFC backstage at the event, but he continues to hope
\nthat his protege will fight Jon Jones<\/a> at
\nthe White House.<\/p>\n

“It’s the fight everyone would like to see, but \u2018Poatan\u2019 fights
\nanyone,\u201d Teixeira said. \u201cIf it’s [Ciryl] Gane for the interim belt,
\nit would be his third belt, something no one has achieved to date.
\nLet’s see what the UFC decides.”<\/p>\n

Among the possibilities on the table, Teixeira seems to consider
\nKhamzat
\nChimaev<\/a> the fight with the least chance of happening.<\/p>\n

“He just became middleweight champion and didn’t even defend it.
\n\u2018Poatan\u2019 is on a different level,\u201d Pereira said. \u201cIt\u2019s complicated
\nfor me to say, but Poatan’s jab is harder than many straight
\npunches. He has a snap that hurts. And it’s very difficult to take
\nhim down against the cage, and if you manage to, his ground defense
\nis excellent. ‘Poatan would knock Chimaev out, at most, by the
\nthird round.”<\/p>\n
