Robert
\nWhittaker<\/a> is almost certain about moving up to light
\nheavyweight for his next fight. <\/p>\n

Whittaker (26-9) has long been a perennial
\nUFC<\/a> middleweight contender, even when he hasn\u2019t held the title.
\nHowever, \u201cThe Reaper\u201d revealed that his last two weight cuts to
\nmake 185 pounds left him weak by the end of the camp. Whittaker is
\nnow considering a move up to light heavyweight, where he believes
\nhe can outclass some opponents with his style. While Whittaker
\nadmits that he can still be convinced against moving up, he is 90%
\nsure that he will fight at light heavyweight next.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Division is Open\u2019<\/h2>\n

\u201cThe last couple of cuts have been hard \u2026 I feel like the division
\nis open,\u201d Whittaker said on “The Ariel Helwani Show.\u201d<\/a> \u201cI feel like there
\nare a lot of guys that my skill set can prevail on. I\u2019m at a point
\nwhere I could be convinced out of [moving up] but\u2026 I feel so weak
\nby the end of the 185 pound camp. It takes a lot of fun out of it\u2026
\nI\u2019m 90% there [towards moving up.]\u201d<\/p>\n

Whittaker won the interim middleweight title against Yoel Romero<\/a>
\nin 2017 and was promoted to undisputed champion after Georges
\nSt-Pierre vacated the title. While Whittaker essentially defended
\nhis title in a violent rematch against Romero, the bout was
\ndeclared a non-title catchweight matchup after the challenger
\nmissed weight.<\/p>\n

Whittaker lost the title to Israel
\nAdesanya<\/a> in 2019. While \u201cBobby Knuckles\u201d walked through other
\ncontenders, he failed to reclaim the title in a rematch against
\nAdesanya in 2022. Whittaker is 2-2 in his last four and coming off
\nconsecutive losses against Khamzat
\nChimaev<\/a> and Reinier
\nde Ridder<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, middleweight champion Chimaev is calling for a light
\nheavyweight title shot against Alex
\nPereira<\/a>, who in turn is eyeing a move to heavyweight. <\/p>\n
