Javid
\nBasharat<\/a> underwent a brutal weight cut only to see his
\nopponent, Gianni
\nVazquez<\/a>, miss weight. <\/p>\n

Basharat was originally scheduled to fight Said
\nNurmagomedov<\/a> at
\nUFC Fight Night 266<\/a> at the Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday.
\nHowever, Nurmagomedov pulled out due to visa issues and was
\nreplaced by Vazquez on two days\u2019 notice. While Basharat
\nsuccessfully made weight, Vazquez came in at 141 pounds, missing
\nthe non-title bantamweight limit by a whopping five
\npounds. <\/p>\n

Basharat dropped Vazquez early and came close to finishing the
\nfight in the first round. However, Vazquez survived the onslaught
\nand turned the tables by dropping Basharat in the second round.
\nBasharat weathered the storm and controlled Vazquez for most of the
\nthird round to earn a hard-fought unanimous decision win. <\/p>\n

The Struggle is Real<\/h2>\n

Basharat subsequently revealed that he had a taxing weight cut as
\nhe was sick throughout fight week. After finally making weight,
\n\u201cThe Snow Leopard\u201d was disappointed to see his opponent miss weight
\nby such a big margin. When Vazquez was celebrating after the fight,
\nBasharat even told him to stop to show some respect.<\/p>\n

  \u201cI was so sick on fight week, my nose and ears are blocked,\u201d
\nBasharat said in a post-fight interview. \u201cAnd I was getting dizzy
\nduring the weight cut, I didn\u2019t even know how I was going to make
\nweight. Then [Vasquez] comes in and misses by five pounds, that\u2019s
\nwhy I was so pissed at him. And when he was celebrating after the
\nfight, I told him \u2018Calm down, man, you missed weight, have some
\nrespect.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Vazquez (13-6) was riding a five-fight winning streak going into
\nhis short-notice
\nUFC<\/a> debut against Basharat (15-2). Meanwhile, Basharat
\nrebounded from a three-fight winless streak that included a
\nno-contest followed by two losses. <\/p>\n
