Ronda
\nRousey<\/a> is ready to go head-to-head against the
\nUFC<\/a> as she promotes her comeback fight.<\/p>\n

The former UFC bantamweight queen will compete for the first time
\nsince 2016 when she faces Gina Carano<\/a>
\nunder the Most Valuable Promotions banner in a featherweight bout
\ntelevised on Netflix on May 16. The fight has generated plenty of
\nattention since it was announced last week, and a lot of that has
\nto do with Rousey, who remains the biggest star in women\u2019s MMA
\nhistory.<\/p>\n

For Rousey, however, at least part of the narrative centers around
\nher showdown with Carano providing some competition for the
\nUFC.<\/p>\n

“It’s a dream fight and a superfight and everything, but I feel
\nlike the story and everything behind it is not just this fight,”
\nRousey said in a video<\/a> released by MVP on Monday.. “A lot of it is MVP
\nvs. UFC. That’s where I’m gonna f\u2014-ing go real hard in the
\ntrenches.<\/p>\n

“We’re helping [the UFC] because they’re suffering from a lack of
\ncompetition. They can’t just make a class-action lawsuit every
\ncouple years the cost of doing business. I’m really trying to help
\nDana out. If anyone has been groomed to be his apprentice, it’s
\nbeen me. I think I’d be the most favorite adversary he’s ever
\nhad.\u201d<\/p>\n

‘I’m Happy for Both of Them’<\/h2>\n

Rousey recently revealed that she initially reached out to White
\nregarding the Carano fight, but the booking ultimately didn\u2019t come
\nto fruition under the UFC banner. At Saturday\u2019s UFC Houston press
\nconference, White confirmed that those discussions did indeed take
\nplace.<\/p>\n

\u201cHer and I have been talking about this since last year,\u201d White
\nsaid. \u201cIt just didn\u2019t work out. But I\u2019m happy for her.<\/p>\n

\u201cListen, me and Gina are in a really good place, we weren\u2019t at one
\npoint. I\u2019m happy for both of them.\u201d<\/p>\n
