\nUFC<\/a> allegedly offered Ronda
\nRousey<\/a> a massive pay-per-view deal but not a guaranteed fight
\npurse. <\/p>\n

Rousey (12-2) is scheduled to fight fellow veteran Gina Carano<\/a>
\n(7-1) on May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California. The
\nfight will take place on a Netflix card under Jake Paul<\/a>\u2019s
\nMost Valuable Promotions. <\/p>\n

Rousey revealed that she was originally in talks with the UFC for
\nher return to MMA after nearly a decade. According to \u201cRowdy,\u201d Dana
\nWhite offered her the highest percentage of pay-per-view shares in
\nUFC history. However, White wanted more time to confirm the deal.
\nThings permanently changed when the UFC\u2019s ESPN deal ended last
\nyear, marking the end of the pay-per-view model as well. The UFC
\nmade a multi-billion dollar deal with Paramount, switching to a
\nsubscription-based streaming model starting in 2026.<\/p>\n

A Shift in Focus<\/h2>\n

Rousey claims that after the pay-per-view era ended, the UFC did
\nnot want to pay her the guaranteed amount that she thought she
\ndeserved. According to the former UFC bantamweight champion, the
\npromotion is now leaning toward cost-effective fights as opposed to
\nmatching up the best against each other.<\/p>\n

  \u201c[Dana] literally brought me a deal where I would make more
\nper pay-per-view buy than anybody in UFC history\u2026 He just needed
\nmore time, and it happened to go to the other side when the ESPN
\nmodel would be ending, and they would be going to streaming,\u201d
\nRousey said on \u201cThe Jim Rome Show.\u2019 \u201cThey didn’t want to set a
\nprecedent of giving me the guaranteed money I deserve… They just
\nmade a $7.7 billion deal at Paramount. It’s in their best interest
\nnot to put on the best fights possible, but to spend as little
\nmoney as possible so they can keep it\u2026 Now that they sold the
\ncompany, it’s out of Dana’s hands unfortunately, and it’s fallen
\nonto Hunter
\nCampbell<\/a> and UFC corp. They don’t care about putting on the
\nbest fights possible; they care about putting on the most
\ncost-effective fights possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nhistory before the move to Paramount+, but wasn’t willing to offer
