The level of competition Alden Coria<\/a>
\nfaces in training is difficult match for his opponents inside the
\nOctagon. <\/p>\n

Coria recently made his sophomore Octagon appearance in a flyweight
\nmatchup against Luis Gurule<\/a>
\nat
\nUFC Houston<\/a> on Saturday. Coria displayed impressive range
\ncontrol, picking his opponent apart from a distance, to earn a
\nunanimous decision victory. <\/p>\n

Coria says the fight went exactly how he had expected. \u201cCobra\u201d knew
\nthat Gurule was a tough customer and difficult to dispatch within
\nthree rounds. Coria knew that Gurule would pressure him from the
\nonset, which he did. However, Coria trains with
\nUFC<\/a> flyweight champion Joshua Van<\/a>,
\nwho is known for his pressure. Having trained with the champion of
\nhis division, Coria says it\u2019s difficult to match Van\u2019s
\npressure.<\/p>\n

No Surprises<\/h2>\n

\u201cIt was exactly how I expected it,\u201d Coria told the UFC. \u201cI knew
\nthis guy was gonna be very tough, hard to get him out of there.
\nThat\u2019s what he brought, really brought a tough fight. I did exactly
\nwhat I said I was gonna do, pick him apart from the outside, and
\nthat\u2019s how it went\u2026 We knew what he was gonna bring, we knew he was
\ngonna bring pressure, and we got the best pressure fighter of the
\ndivision \u2013 Joshua Van<\/a>.
\nSo it\u2019s hard to match that.\u201d <\/p>\n

Currently on a six-fight winning streak overall, Coria (12-3)
\nknocked out his opponent in under a minute in his UFC debut in
\nSeptember 2025. Meanwhile, Gurule (10-3) is in risky territory,
\nhaving lost all three of his UFC outings so far. <\/p>\n
