Jon
\nJones<\/a> may still get his wish of fighting at the
\nUFC<\/a>\u2019s White House event before all is said and done.<\/p>\n

During a meet and greet<\/a> at the Brook Casino in New
\nHampshire, the former two-division champion revealed he was in
\nstill talks with the promotion to compete on the highly-anticipated
\ncard.<\/p>\n

\u201dI\u2019m in negotiations with the UFC about this White House thing, as
\nwell,\u201d Jones said (video via Championship Rounds). \u201cI\u2019m a very,
\nvery, very proud American, and I cannot wait to represent one more
\ntime. So, we\u2019ll see what happens.\u201d

Jones hasn\u2019t fought since defending the heavyweight crown with a
\nthird-round stoppage of Stipe
\nMiocic<\/a> at UFC 309 in November 2024. While the promotion worked
\nhard to put together a title unification bout between \u201cBones\u201d and
\nTom
\nAspinall<\/a>, that possibility fell by the wayside when Jones
\nvacated the belt and announced his retirement this past June. That
\nfarewell proved to be short lived, however, as Jones re-entered the
\ndrug testing pool after President Donald Trump announced that a UFC
\nevent would be held on White House grounds.<\/p>\n

While Jones has been eager to represent his country, UFC CEO Dana
\nWhite has shut down the possibility of the former champion
\ncompeting at the White House on multiple occasions. More recently,
\nJones revealed that he has been
\nplagued by arthritis<\/a> to a point where he has qualified for hip
\nreplacement surgery. However, \u201cBones\u201d added that those issues
\nwouldn\u2019t prevent him from fighting at the White House if presented
\nwith the opportunity.<\/p>\n

\u2018Bones\u2019 vs. \u2018Poatan?\u2019<\/h2>\n

Jones\u2019 statement regarding ongoing negotiations comes on the heels
\nof the announcement that Alex
\nPereira<\/a> has vacated the UFC light heavyweight belt. Both Jones
\nand Pereira have lobbied to fight each other in recent months, a
\npossibility that could be more likely now that \u201cPoatan\u201d appears to
\nbe ready to move up a weight class. No bouts have been confirmed
\nfor UFC White House, but White recently stated that he was ready to
\nreveal the card in the near future.<\/p>\n
