\nUFC 326<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Johnson (8-0) was a massive favorite going into his sophomore
\n
\nUFC<\/a> outing against middleweight veteran Brundage (11-9) at UFC
\n326 on Saturday in Las Vegas. While Johnson came out all guns
\nblazing, Brundage took him down in the opening seconds and
\ncontrolled him for most of the first round. Brundage showed
\ncomposure in going toe-to-toe against the aggressive Johnson for
\nthree rounds. Johnson eventually earned a narrow split-decision
\nvictory, going to the judges’ scorecards for the first time in his
\ncareer. Johnson had finished all seven of his previous wins, going
\npast the first round only in his UFC debut against Sedriques
\nDumas<\/a> last year. <\/p>\n

Plenty of Work to Do<\/h2>\n

Johnson subsequently admitted that he was disappointed with his
\nperformance despite getting his hand raised. The 27-year-old notes
\nthat Brundage had a significant advantage over him in terms of
\nexperience. Johnson believes he could have done better by mixing up
\nhis combinations. Johnson vows to put in the work he needs to
\nbecome a UFC champion someday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am slightly disappointed\u2026 We\u2019re gonna be back better and I will
\nbe champion,\u201d Johnson said in an interview with the UFC. \u201cSo this
\njust a learning lesson. He\u2019s had more fights in the UFC than I\u2019ve
\nhad fights period\u2026 He did a good job of just getting out of the
\nway. I did a bad job of just not mixing it up a little bit\u2026 We got
\nto be better. I can be better than that. I know I\u2019ve got a lot of
\nwork to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

After picking up the first decision win of his career, Donte
