Opinions are all over the map for the big announcement of the
\noft-discussed
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> White House event.<\/p>\n

On the main card broadcast of Saturday\u2019s
\nUFC 326<\/a> offering, during the conclusion of the four-fight
\nportion simulcast on the CBS network, the promotion revealed all
\nsix bouts that will be held on its fabled UFC White House card. The
\nevent, also titled \u201cFreedom 250,\u201d will feature a pair of
\nchampionship tilts including one unification match and another for
\nan interim strap. The bout that will headline the June 14 show on
\nthe White House grounds in Washington, D.C., will be one rumored
\nfor some time: Ilia
\nTopuria<\/a> (17-0) vs. Justin
\nGaethje<\/a> (27-5) for the undisputed lightweight championship.<\/p>\n

Topuria serves as one of a small number of two-division champions
\nin organizational history, as he picked up the featherweight strap
\nin 2024 by sparking Alexander
\nVolkanovski<\/a> with one punch atop UFC 298. He defended that
\nthrone once by icing Max
\nHolloway<\/a> in the UFC 308 main attraction, and vacated that belt
\nto move to 155 pounds. In the main event of UFC 317, Topuria
\ndemolished former kingpin Charles
\nOliveira<\/a> to pick up the vacant strap. \u201cEl Matador\u201d needed to
\ntake some time off to resolve family matters, resulting in the
\npromotion granting an interim title opportunity to his upcoming
\nopponent.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Highlight\u201d Gaethje secured interim gold for the second time
\nwhen he beat Paddy
\nPimblett<\/a> at UFC 324 in January, reaching the status he
\npreviously achieved when smashing Tony
\nFerguson<\/a> for that interim belt back in 2020. Gaethje\u2019s previous
\neffort to unify that belt came up short when he suffered his first
\ncareer submission loss to Khabib
\nNurmagomedov<\/a> later that year. A 15-fight UFC veteran, the
\nArizonan has earned 15 post-fight bonus awards for his thrilling
\nperformances since joining the roster in 2017.<\/p>\n

A New Chapter in the Record Books<\/h2>\n

In an attempt to make major MMA organizational history, Alex
\nPereira<\/a> (13-3) will be moving up to heavyweight in an effort to
\nsecure the interim belt against former champ Ciryl Gane<\/a>
\n(13-2, 1 NC). Another member of the two-division champ club,
\nPereira previously held the middleweight and light heavyweight
\nthrones, even holding the latter twice. Of note, Anatoly
\nMalykhin<\/a> held the 205-pound and 225-pound championships as well
\nas the heavyweight strap concurrently in One Championship, although
\nthe league has since lost \u201cmajor\u201d status due to its overall lack of
\nMMA matches.<\/p>\n

Opponent Gane has circled the title picture since one-upping
\nAlexander
\nVolkov<\/a> back in 2021, picking up the interim variety once before
\nagainst Derrick
\nLewis<\/a> that year. Like the aforementioned Gaethje, Gane was
\nunable to secure undisputed status as Francis
\nNgannou<\/a> outpointed him in their subsequent bout. Gane later
\nfell short against Jon Jones<\/a> for
\nthe undisputed crown, losing by stoppage for the first time in his
\ncareer. He picked up wins over Serghei
\nSpivac<\/a> and Volkov again to put himself back in contention, only
\nfor an eye poke in the first round to scuttle his title tilt
\nagainst Tom
\nAspinall<\/a> in 2025.<\/p>\n

Moving down the main card\u2014the promotion has not yet determined
\nwhether part or all of the event will air on CBS on that unique
\nSunday show\u2014the UFC also put together a possible title eliminator
\nat 135 pounds. Looking to make his way back to gold will be
\nSean
\nO’Malley<\/a> (19-3, 1 NC) taking on Aiemann
\nZahabi<\/a> (14-2) in a U.S. vs. Canada excursion. \u201cSuga\u201d put a pair
\nof defeats to champ Merab
\nDvalishvili<\/a> behind him by snagging a decision over Yadong Song<\/a>
\nin January. On the other hand, adversary Zahabi has won seven
\nstraight dating back to 2021, including a pair of decisions over
\nJose
\nAldo<\/a> and Marlon Vera<\/a>
\nin 2025.<\/p>\n

Putting a member of the vaunted Fighting Nerds team on display,
\nMauricio
\nRuffy<\/a> (13-2) will battle hard-nosed American wrestle-boxer
\nMichael
\nChandler<\/a> (23-10) in a lightweight showcase effort. The
\nBrazilian has won four of five since making his organizational
\ndebut in 2024, with his most recent victory a knockout of striking
\ncoach Rafael
\nFiziev<\/a> in January. While Ruffy has largely succeeded as of
\nlate, Chandler has not gotten his hand raised since he posterized
\nFerguson with a front kick in 2022. This includes a trio of losses
\nplus a number of failed attempts to face Conor
\nMcGregor<\/a> after coaching against him in the 31st season of \u201cThe
\nUltimate Fighter.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the lone all-American bout on the billing, three-time NCAA
\nDivision I wrestling champion Bo Nickal<\/a>
\n(8-1) collides with fellow Pennsylvanian Kyle
\nDaukaus<\/a> (17-4, 1 NC). Nickal saw his undefeated record crumble
\nlast year when Reinier
\nde Ridder<\/a> put him away with a knee to the body. He got back on
\nthe winning track by blasting Rodolfo
\nVieira<\/a> with a head kick in November at UFC 322. Foe Daukaus
\nreturned to the promotion after getting cut in 2022 to shock
\nMichel
\nPereira<\/a> with a 43-second knockout in a late-notice appearance
\nat UFC Fight Night 257. He promptly tapped out grappling ace
\nGerald
\nMeerschaert<\/a> in 50 seconds in November to push his overall win
\nstreak to six in a row.<\/p>\n

Barring a late addition\u2014UFC chief Dana White suggested that there
\nmay be a seventh match booked, while also stating on a Powerslap
\nbroadcast on Friday that one of the fights for this card fell
\nthrough\u2014the event will kick off with a featherweight banger between
\nDiego
\nLopes<\/a> (27-8) and Steve
\nGarcia<\/a> (19-5). Since his unsuccessful debut against Movsar
\nEvloev<\/a> in 2023, the only man to beat Lopes in the Octagon has
\nbeen Volkanovski. Ultraviolent Jackson-Wink product Garcia has been
\na man possessed since getting knocked out by Maheshate
\nHayisaer<\/a> in 2022, racking up seven wins including six
\nknockouts.<\/p>\n
