Jorge
\nMasvidal<\/a> will bet the house on Sean
\nStrickland<\/a> if he fights Khamzat
\nChimaev<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Masvidal is absolutely confident that Strickland will defeat the
\nundefeated middleweight champion. Masvidal doubts Chimaev will even
\nfight Strickland after having trained together in the past. Having
\ntrained with Strickland himself, Masvidal has seen the former
\nchampion defend himself excellently against elite wrestlers. While
\nStrickland doesn\u2019t use his wrestling offensively, Masvidal believes
\nhis defensive work takes a toll on the gas tank of wrestlers like
\nChimaev.<\/p>\n

A Bad Style Matchup<\/h2>\n

\u201cI\u2019m dumping the house on Strickland on that one\u2026 I don\u2019t think
\nChimaev even fights him because they have trained a lot,\u201d Masvidal
\nsaid on the “Death Row MMA\u201d podcast<\/a>. \u201cStrickland beats him. It\u2019s
\na bad style for [Chimaev]. I\u2019ve seen Sean go with good wrestlers
\nover at American Top Team, guys that have wrestled their whole
\nlives, All-Americans, national champions, and, dude, this guy can
\nwrestle defensively. He never uses his wrestling in a fight, but if
\nyou try to wrestle with him, you quickly find out \u2013 this guy can
\nwrestle back into me. And that costs a lot of energy, and Chimaev
\ndoesn\u2019t have the best gas tank.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chimaev (15-0) won the middleweight title with a dominant unanimous
\ndecision over Dricus Du
\nPlessis<\/a> at
\nUFC 319<\/a> last year. While Chimaev controlled Du Plessis for
\nnearly 22 minutes, he didn\u2019t land any significant damage. Masvidal
\nis not a fan of Chimaev\u2019s style, where \u201cBorz\u201d doesn\u2019t risk his
\nposition to look for a finish.<\/p>\n

\u201cNever been a fan of that style, because it\u2019s fighting, not
\nhugging, and you also have to be a part of entertainment,\u201d Masvidal
\nsaid. \u201cSo if you have a guy in a crucifix but you\u2019re so worried
\nthat he might get away that you\u2019re not gonna throw strikes \u2013 that
\nf\u2014\u2014ing pisses me off\u2026 He\u2019s a nervous guy, he doesn\u2019t wanna get
\nhit.\u201d <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Strickland (30-7) was an underdog in his latest matchup
\nagainst Anthony
\nHernandez<\/a> at
\nUFC Houston<\/a> last month. Strickland completely neutralized
\nHernandez\u2019s pressure wrestling before finishing him in the third
\nround to rebound from consecutive title losses against Du
\nPlessis. <\/p>\n
