\nUFC<\/a> fighters to push for the sunset clause in their
\ncontracts. <\/p>\n

The sunset clause means a fighter\u2019s contract with the UFC expires
\nafter a certain time period, regardless of whether they fight or
\nnot. The sunset clause is what allowed Ngannou to leave the
\n
\nUFC<\/a> in 2023 after yearlong failed contract
\nnegotiations.  <\/p>\n

UFC fighter pay and contracts are once again making headlines after
\nthe announcement of the White House card. Despite having rallied
\nfor a spot on the card for a year, Jon Jones<\/a> has
\nbeen left out. Jones has since publicly called for his release from
\nthe UFC. Ngannou advises UFC fighters to include the sunset
\nclause in their contracts, to allow them the freedom to leave after
\na certain period if they want.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m Not Signing My Life Off\u2019<\/h2>\n

\u201cThe sunset clause. Because we have to understand, the key here is
\nthe freedom, it\u2019s not the money,\u201d Ngannou said at media scrum<\/a>. \u201cYou can convert your freedom to
\nmoney, but the key is the freedom. Being trapped or being held in a
\ncontract that you can\u2019t out of, and maybe you\u2019re not happy \u2013 is not
\nfair\u2026 I think it should be everyone\u2019s choice to decide to do
\nwhatever they want. Maybe if I have a contract and I want to fight
\noff my contract, it\u2019s my right to fight off my contract. That\u2019s why
\nthere is a contract, and there is a limited number of fights in the
\ncontract. I\u2019m not signing my life off.\u201d <\/p>\n

Ngannou had called for the liberty to simultaneously compete in
\nboxing, health insurance for fighters and various other clauses,
\nwhich led to failed contract negotiations with the UFC. Ngannou
\nsubsequently signed with the
\nProfessional Fighters League<\/a> which allowed him to compete in
\nboxing matches against Tyson Fury<\/a>
\nand Anthony
\nJoshua<\/a>. \u201cThe Predator\u201d only competed once under the PFL banner
\nand served as the chairman of PFL Africa, before parting ways with
\nthe promotion earlier this month. The Cameroonian is now set to
\nfight Philipe
\nLins<\/a> on MVP\u2019s
\nfirst MMA event<\/a>on a Netflix card on May 16 at the Intuit Dome
\nin Los Angeles, California. <\/p>\n
