Josh
\nEmmett<\/a> believes his upcoming opponent has been matched up
\nagainst him too soon. <\/p>\n

Emmett (19-6) will headline the fifth UFC Fight Night of his career
\nagainst Kevin
\nVallejos<\/a> (17-1) at
\nUFC Fight Night 269<\/a> on Saturday at the Apex in Las Vegas.
\nEmmett is 17 years older than the 24-year-old Argentinian, who goes
\ninto the first
\nUFC<\/a> headliner of his career.<\/p>\n

Emmett believes experience will be a deciding factor in his
\nupcoming fight against Vallejos. Having shared the Octagon with
\nsome of the best in the sport, Emmett believes Vallejos has nothing
\nto offer that he hasn\u2019t seen yet. While Emmett respects Vallejos,
\nhe believes \u201cEl Chino\u201d is being pushed too fast up the
\nrankings.<\/p>\n

Experience Counts<\/h2>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s gonna be a huge difference,\u201d Emmett told the UFC on Paramount<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019ve been in there with some
\nof the best fighters there are. And there\u2019s nothing that he\u2019s gonna
\ndo or show me that I haven\u2019t already seen. I give him all the
\nrespect in the world, tough kid. But I think they\u2019re pushing him a
\nlittle too fast.\u201d <\/p>\n

Emmett has gone 10-6 in his decade-long UFC career so far. \u201cCC0\u201d
\nhas faced the who\u2019s who at featherweight, leaving behind the likes
\nof Calvin
\nKattar<\/a>, Michael
\nJohnson<\/a>, Dan Ige<\/a>, and
\nBryce
\nMitchell<\/a> in his wake. Emmett is one of only two fighters to go
\nthe distance against lightweight champion Ilia
\nTopuria<\/a>. The 41-year-old is coming off consecutive losses
\nagainst Lerone
\nMurphy<\/a> and Youssef
\nZalal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Vallejos suffered his lone career loss against current
\nUFC featherweight contender Jean Silva<\/a>
\nin his first
\nDana White’s Contender Series<\/a>opportunity in 2023. Vallejos
\nrebounded with a couple of wins to earn another Contender Series
\nopportunity next year, where he earned his UFC contract with a
\nfirst-round knockout win over Cam Teague<\/a>.
\nVallejos has since racked up three wins in the UFC, most recently a
\nspinning-backfist knockout over Giga
\nChikadze<\/a> this past December. <\/p>\n
