Prates believes Garry\u2019s well-rounded skillset and elite movement
\ncan make for a competitive fight against Makhachev. While Garry has
\nlost to an elite grappler in Shavkat
\nRakhmonov<\/a>, Prates believes a potential matchup against
\nMakhachev will be different. Competing with Garry for the next
\nwelterweight title shot is Michael
\nMorales<\/a>. However, Prates believes Makhachev will successfully
\ndefend his title against Morales.<\/p>\n

An Intriguing Challenge<\/h2>\n

\u201cI think Ian Garry,\u201d Prates told Red Corner MMA.\u201dI think it\u2019ll be
\nlittle bit different [than the Shavkat fight]. Because Ian Garry<\/a>
\nknows how to move a lot, how to be really competitive in any place,
\non the ground or stand up. So I think that fight would be
\ninteresting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Makhachev dethroned Jack
\nDella Maddalena<\/a> to the welterweight title at UFC 322<\/a>
\nlast November. Prates also entered the welterweight title picture
\nby knocking out Leon
\nEdwards<\/a> on the same card. Meanwhile, Morales announced himself
\nas a contender by knocking out Sean Brady<\/a>.
\nGarry joined the list a week later with a victory over Belal
\nMuhammad<\/a> at
\nUFC Qatar<\/a>. <\/p>\n

While Morales and Garry continue to jostle for the next title shot,
\nPrates (23-7)  is set headline UFC Perth<\/a>
\nagainst Della Maddalena (18-3) on May 2. Meanwhile, Morales
\nrecently claimed to have jumped ahead of Garry in the race for the
\nnext welterweight gold bid. <\/p>\n
