The three-time ONE
\nChampionship<\/a> flyweight titleholder claims his contract with the
\nSingapore-based organization expired in March, though he admits a
\nfew more details need to be ironed out before he takes his talent
\nto another promotion. If this does turn out to be the end of
\nMoraes\u2019 tenure with One, it will have included 12 victories in 18
\nappearances and a career-defining trilogy with the great Demetrious
\nJohnson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, I lost the final fight [with Johnson] by points at
\na great event in Colorado,\u201d he told Sherdog.com. \u201cThey offered to
\nrenew me [and] I accepted, but from that point on, they greatly
\nreduced their number of MMA bouts. Things were very slow,
\nespecially after Demetrious retired.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moraes, now 36, has not fought since he suffered a technical
\nknockout loss to Yuya
\nWakamatsu<\/a> in the first round of their One 172 encounter on
\nMarch 23, 2025. Nearly a year has passed since.<\/p>\n

\u201cI expected to be offered another [fight], per my contract,\u201d Moraes
\nsaid. \u201cIt never happened. My contract eventually ran out on Aug.
\n30, but they gave me a six-month \u2018medical extension.\u2019 I\u2019m not sure
\nhow that works. The six months ran out on March 2. They let my
\ncontract run out without any offers, and that\u2019s how I ended up
\nbeing a free agent.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adriano Moraes: \u2018I won\u2019t renew\u2019 with One Championship<\/h2>\n

The two sides have since been in touch, but Moraes indicated he has
\nno plans to re-sign with One Championship.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne Championship got in contact with me,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m analyzing
\ntheir latest replies, so I can be truly free. There are some
\nmatching offer clauses to be considered, but my contract literally
\nended. I didn\u2019t renew\u2014and I won\u2019t renew. I\u2019m ready to be a free
\nagent, but we\u2019re supposed to have a meeting about matching
\noffers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI expect they\u2019ll reply by the end of the week, whether they\u2019ll
\nmake another offer or if they\u2019ll continue to keep me prisoner,\u201d
\nMoraes added. \u201cI haven\u2019t received any bookings for over a year. My
\ncontract ran out. My manager is in touch with some organizations so
