Alex
\nPereira<\/a> hasn\u2019t lost hope of fighting Jon Jones<\/a> at
\nsome point. <\/p>\n

Pereira (13-3) first called out Jones (28-1) after reclaiming his
\nlight heavyweight title against Magomed
\nAnkalaev<\/a> at UFC 320<\/a>
\nthis past October. Jones, who was eyeing a return after his
\nretirement in June, expressed interest in fighting Pereira. The
\nbooking was being anticipated for the
\nUFC White House<\/a> card in June. <\/p>\n

However, the card was officially announced earlier this month, and
\nJones is surprisingly not a part of it. Pereira is scheduled to
\nfight Ciryl Gane<\/a>
\nfor the interim heavyweight title at Freedom Fights 250 on June 14
\nat the White House. Pereira believes he can still fight Jones in
\nthe future as long as he defeats Gane next.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe so [there is a chance that the Jones fight happens]. As
\nlong as I win this fight [against Gane]. Otherwise, it doesn\u2019t make
\nmuch sense,\u201d Pereira said on “The Ariel Helwani Show.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Not Going Anywhere<\/h2>\n

Jones retired last year after stalling the heavyweight division for
\nover a year. While he started rallying for a spot on the White
\nHouse card since it was first mentioned, Dana White seemed
\nsceptical throughout. White later said that Jones was never
\nconsidered for a return at the White House card. Jones responded
\nwith a rant, hinting that he was involved in lengthy negotiations
\nwith the
\nUFC<\/a>. \u201cBones\u201d has since publicly called for his UFC release.
\nHowever, \u201cPoatan\u201d is still hopeful about fighting Jones as he
\nbelieves that the UFC won\u2019t release the former double-champ anytime
\nsoon.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe it happens,\u201d Pereira said. \u201cBecause he has to be
\nreleased from the UFC. I don\u2019t think the UFC is gonna release him
\nanytime soon.\u201d <\/p>\n
