While it might be difficult to believe now, Sean
\nStrickland<\/a> and Khamzat
\nChimaev<\/a> allegedly got along well with each other in
\ntraining. <\/p>\n

Strickland (30-7) is scheduled to challenge Chimaev (15-0) for the
\nmiddleweight title at UFC 328<\/a>
\non May 9 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. There
\nseems to be some bad blood between the two, originating from their
\ntraining sessions in the past. <\/p>\n

However, Strickland\u2019s coach, Eric Nicksick, claims they got along
\nreally well when Chimaev visited the Xtreme Couture gym. According
\nto Nicksick, the dynamic between Strickland and Chimaev was mostly
\ncompetitive, with the two pushing each other to their limits.
\nNicksick has no idea when the relationship turned sour.<\/p>\n

\u2018They Pushed Each Other\u2019<\/h2>\n

\u201cHonestly, I thought they got along really well,\u201d Nicksick said on
\n“The Ariel Helwani Show.\u201d<\/a> \u201cI thought they
\npushed each other really well. I felt like it was more of a
\ncompetitive environment than anything. Where it kind of took a
\nturn, I honestly couldn\u2019t tell you\u2026 For me, it was like \u2013 take this
\nopportunity to learn as much as you can from Khamzat\u2014some of his
\nroutes, some of the things he does really well on the ground\u2014and
\njust be a student when he\u2019s in here and listen, learn, and observe
\nthe way he trains.\u201d<\/p>\n

Strickland has taken multiple digs at Chimaev, accusing the
\nchampion of stalling the division. Meanwhile, \u201cBorz\u201d claims
\nStrickland\u2019s animosity towards him is a result of getting choked
\nout in sparring. However, Strickland claims he was only submitted
\nin situational sparring and otherwise made Chimaev quit the
\ngym. <\/p>\n
