\nMakhachev<\/a> denies ever weighing 190 pounds on fight
\nnight. <\/p>\n


\nUFC<\/a> welterweight champion Makhachev seems to be at least the
\nsame size, if not bigger than, most fighters in his weight class.
\nMakhachev amazingly also had a dominant title reign at
\nlightweight. <\/p>\n

Dustin
\nPoirier<\/a>, who made a failed lightweight title bid against
\nMakhachev in 2024, recently made a surprising claim. According to
\nPoirier, the UFC keeps a record of every fighter\u2019s weight on fight
\nnight. Poirier claims UFC matchmaker Hunter Campbell told him that
\nMakhachev weighed around 190 pounds on fight night for their
\nlightweight matchup. Which means Makhachev allegedly gained around
\n35 pounds after weighing in at 155 pounds. Meanwhile, Poirier
\nclaims he himself weighed only 176 pounds.<\/p>\n

He Said, He Said<\/h2>\n

\u201cHunter, I was in his office not too long ago,\u201d Poirier said on
\n“The Joe Rogan Experience\u201d podcast.<\/a> \u201cAnd they
\nkeep record of all the weights on fight night. They don\u2019t release
\nthem all but they keep it. And we were talking about the Islam
\nfight, when I fought Islam. And he was telling me his weight, and I
\nwas like, \u2018That\u2019s insane.\u2019… 192 [pounds] or something, something
\naround there. I was 176.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Makhachev shut down Poirier\u2019s claims. The Dagestani champ
\nclaims he has never weighed more than 176 pounds.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never weighed more than 80 kg, ever,\u201d Makhachev wrote on
\nTelegram.<\/p>\n

Makhachev (28-1) submitted \u201cThe Diamond\u201d via a Brabo choke at UFC
\n302. Poirier (30-10) fought once more, suffering a decision loss
\nagainst Max
\nHolloway<\/a>, before hanging up his gloves. <\/p>\n
