Francis
\nNgannou<\/a> wanted to fight out his contract with the
\nProfessional Fighters League<\/a>. <\/p>\n

PFL announced its split with Ngannou earlier this month. This was
\nimmediately followed by the announcement of Ngannou\u2019s booking
\nagainst Philipe
\nLins<\/a> on May 16 on MVP\u2019s first MMA card in collaboration with
\nNetflix. <\/p>\n

Ngannou claims he still had a fight left on his PFL contract, which
\nhe wanted to exhaust. However, the PFL allegedly told Ngannou for a
\nyear that they were working on it. Ngannou also believes the major
\nchanges in the PFL leadership led to a delay in proceedings. While
\nNgannou used to previously discuss fight-related matters with
\nformer CEO Peter Murray, he was replaced by John Martin last
\nyear.<\/p>\n

Slow Negotiations<\/h2>\n

\u201cI think I had one fight left, and I was hoping to have that fight
\nsince last year,\u201d Ngannou said on “The
\nAriel Helwani Show.\u201d<\/a> \u201cI\u2019ve been asking for the fight, but they
\nkeep telling me they are working on it\u2026 At the same time, a lot of
\nthings were changing in the PFL. And sometimes it was even hard to
\nknow \u2013 because I used to talk fight-related [stuff] with Peter
\nMurray. And then things started to change, and then John [Martin]\ncame around, and the conversation basically had to start all over
\nagain. So kind of slowed the process down.\u201d <\/p>\n

Ngannou (18-3) left the
\nUFC<\/a> on a bitter note in 2023 and signed up with the PFL.
\nHowever, Ngannou\u2019s highly-anticipated PFL career didn\u2019t exactly pan
\nout as expected. While Ngannou competed in two massive boxing
\nmatches against Tyson Fury<\/a>
\nand Anthony
\nJoshua<\/a>, he fought only once in the PFL. \u201cThe Predator\u201d defeated
\nRenan
\nFerreira<\/a> in his lone PFL bout in October 2024. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the PFL leadership recently underwent massive changes.
\nFormer CEO Murray was shifted to the PFL\u2019s international wing in
\nJuly 2025 and replaced by John
\nMartin<\/a>. Murray parted ways with the promotion this past
\nJanuary. Founder and longtime chairman Donn Davis also left the PFL
\nin January. <\/p>\n
