A long-awaited return may soon reveal whether or not the whole
\nabsence-makes-the-heart-grow-fonder proverb rings true for Natan
\nSchulte<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The two-time
\nProfessional Fighters League<\/a> lightweight tournament winner will
\nclimb into the cage for the first time in almost three years when
\nhe confronts the undefeated Jakub
\nKaszuba<\/a> in a featured
\nPFL Pittsburgh<\/a> prelim on Saturday at the UPMC Events Center.
\nSchulte rose to prominence when he was the company\u2019s last man
\nstanding at 155 pounds in 2018 and 2019, resulting in two
\nseven-figure paydays.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe PFL wasn\u2019t that well known, even by professional fighters,\u201d
\nSchulte told Sherdog.com. \u201cAfter I was the champion in both of
\nthose years, I went from being just another fighter outside the UFC
\nto being recognized internationally. The main change for me was
\nbeing able to dedicate myself full-time to training since 2018.
\nBefore that, I had to split time with a job.\u201d<\/p>\n

An undercard clash with Kaszuba awaits the 34-year-old Brazilian.
\nIt marks Schulte\u2019s first appearance in more than 1,000 days.
\nKaszuba, 30, boasts a perfect 15-0 record with eight finishes.
\nOperating out of a Gracie Barra affiliate in Jacksonville, Florida,
\nhe was a two-time PFL Europe tournament winner before he migrated
\nto the main roster.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a very good fighter,\u201d Schulte said. \u201cAge-wise, he\u2019s not that
\nmuch younger, but he is younger in MMA. His fight record isn\u2019t as
\nextensive despite having won at PFL Europe. Maybe he hasn\u2019t faced
\nsomeone as experienced as I [am]. I think our fight will play out
\non the mat since he\u2019s a grappler, but where he is good, I\u2019m even
\nbetter. I expect to win by submission.\u201d<\/p>\n

Forgettable encounter<\/h2>\n

Schulte has not suited up since PFL 6 on June 23, 2023, when he
\ntook a unanimous decision from Raush
\nManfio<\/a>. Their performance was widely panned, as the two
\n
\nAmerican Top Team<\/a> stablemates seemingly refused to engage one
\nanother at full force. Both men were suspended by the promotion
\nafterward.
