\nNgannou<\/a> was reminded of the sport’s ruthless nature after
\nwatching his friend Israel
\nAdesanya<\/a>\u2019s loss on Saturday. <\/p>\n

Adesanya took on Joe Pyfer<\/a> in
\nthe main event at
\nUFC Seattle<\/a> on Saturday. While it was a closely-contested first
\nround, there were glimpses of a prime Adesanya as he chipped away
\nwith leg kicks and a stiff jab. \u201cThe Last Stylebender\u201d appeared to
\nhave found his groove in the second round as he started unleashing
\ncombos and hurting Pyfer. Ngannou thought the old Adesanya of
\nchampionship days was back after the first round. However, Pyfer
\ntook Adesanya down and took his back, threatening a rear-naked
\nchoke. Adesanya shifted between giving up his back and giving Pyfer
\nthe mount. Pyfer finally flattened Adesanya out and unleashed a
\nbarrage of unanswered shots, forcing the referee to step in at 4:18
\nof Round 2. <\/p>\n

Ngannou was heartbroken watching his friend\u2019s brutal loss. The
\nformer
\nUFC<\/a> heavyweight champion got a reminder that the sport can be
\nunforgiving despite putting in all the effort possible.<\/p>\n

Tough to Rebound<\/h2>\n

\u201cWatching Izzy’s fight last night was heartbroken,\u201d Ngannou wrote
\non his Instagram Stories. \u201cIt reminds you how ungrateful this sport
\nis. Sometimes it’s good to you, sometimes, no matter what you do,
\nit lets you down. Izzy looked sharp, very sharp. And after the
\nfirst round, I was like, \u2018Oh, get this, this is good, Izzy is
\nback.\u2019 But sometimes we plan, but God has other plans. And I can
\nonly imagine how tough it is to come back out of it, to
\nrebound.\u201d  Adesanya\u2019s (24-6) last win dates back to 2023, when he reclaimed
\nthe middleweight title by knocking out Alex
\nPereira<\/a>, to avenge three previous losses (two kickboxing).
\nHowever, Adesanya failed to defend his title against Sean
\nStrickland<\/a> and has since lost three more in a row. However,
\nAdesanya confirmed that he is not going anywhere and vows to be
\nback.
