Oktagon
\nMMA<\/a>\u2019s new \u201cStand and Bang\u201d rules will certainly be a treat for
\nbloodthirsty combat sports fans. <\/p>\n

Oktagon MMA is scheduled to host its next event on April 11 at the
\nEnea Arena in Szczecin, Poland. The main attraction of the card
\nwill be a matchup between Poland\u2019s Michal
\nMaterla<\/a> (33-11) and Germany\u2019s Christian
\nJungwirth<\/a> (16-9), under the promotion\u2019s new \u201cStand and Bang\u201d
\nrules. Co-founder Ondrej Novotny recently explained that the new
\nrules include boxing with MMA gloves, clinching, but no kicks or
\ntakedowns.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur new rules, \u2018Stand and Bang,\u2019 between Materla and Jungwirth,
\nthat would be something special,\u201d he told MMAjunkie.com<\/a>. \u201c\u2026 Now it’s basically gonna be boxing
\nwith small gloves, with elbows also, clinch on the fence, but no
\ntakedowns, no kicks. And I believe this will be something
\nspecial.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u2018Everybody Wants to See Fights Like That\u2019<\/h2>\n

Novotny explains that the new \u201cStand and Bang\u201d rules are an upgrade
\nof the older Underground rules, which included shorter 3-minute
\nrounds, and allowed kicks and takedowns. The name \u201cStand and Bang\u201d
\nis an original from longtime Oktagon MMA presenter Bryan Lacey.
\nNovotny wants to give a chance to those fighters who just want to
\ntrade fists without having to worry about the grappling part of
\nMMA. Novotny also believes that the new rules will ensure
\nfan-friendly bouts.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt came out from underground rules, what we invented for Covid,\u201d
\nNovotny said. \u201cTo give a chance to standup fighters also to make
\nsome money, and to MMA fighters. So we were looking for rules which
\ncould be suitable for both sides. And here we are with \u2018Stand and
\nBang\u2019 rules, the name is original from Bryan Lacey. Sometimes we
\ngot fighters who want to really fight without all these different
\nBJJ, grappling, wrestling styles. And they just want to stand and
\nbang. And this is something people basically like, everybody wants
\nto see fights like that.\u201d  <\/p>\n
