Nate
\nDiaz<\/a> wanted a shot at the
\nUFC<\/a> belt he helped name. <\/p>\n

The UFC\u2019s BMF belt was originally Diaz\u2019s idea, although he fell
\nshort against Jorge
\nMasvidal<\/a> in the inaugural BMF title fight in 2019. Meanwhile,
\nthe belt is currently held by Charles
\nOliveira<\/a> (37-11), who won it against Max
\nHolloway<\/a> at UFC 326 last month. Diaz recently went off on
\nOliveira over a past callout. Oliveira shut down Diaz\u2019s callout
\nafter winning the lightweight title in 2021, citing his preference
\nfor bigger, championship fights. However, \u201cDo Bronx\u201d surprised
\neveryone, including Diaz, by subsequently calling out Conor
\nMcGregor<\/a>, who had just suffered a leg injury.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis fool is walking around with my title,\u201d Diaz told Theo Von<\/a>. \u201cThis fool actually won the
\ntitle one time, and I said I\u2019ll fight Oliveira, I know I\u2019ll beat
\nOliveira. And then Oliveira\u2019s like, \u2018No thanks, homie, I\u2019ll try to
\nfight for big stuff, world championships.\u2019… And then few months
\nlater, after Conor breaks his leg, this fool\u2019s like, \u2018I\u2019ll fight
\nConor
\nMcGregor<\/a>.\u2019 I thought you wanted bigger and better things,
\nyou’re picking on people who are on the downfall.\u201d <\/p>\n

A More Intriguing Option<\/h2>\n

Diaz (21-13) parted ways with the UFC with a submission win over
\nTony
\nFerguson<\/a> in 2022, while always leaving the door open for a
\npotential return to the promotion. Diaz claims he had recently been
\nin negotiations with the UFC about a return. The UFC allegedly
\nwanted Diaz to return in a rubber matchup against Conor
\nMcGregor<\/a>, who hasn\u2019t fought since breaking his leg. However,
\nDiaz wanted a shot at Oliveira\u2019s BMF belt. When the UFC hesitated,
\nDiaz chose his other option, a booking against Mike Perry<\/a>
\non a Netflix MMA card on May 16 Intuit Dome in Los Angeles,
\nCalifornia.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe they wanted me to come back and fight Conor
\nMcGregor<\/a>, not Oliveira,\u2019 Diaz said.\u201dI\u2019m gonna fight for my belt
\nthat I created, that I deserved\u2026 And they\u2019re like, \u2018We want you to
\ncome back, and maybe later\u2026\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018OK, well, you know who\u2019s
\ndoing a good job? With almost close to the same amount of offer \u2013

\nPerry<\/a>\u2019\u2026 I\u2019m a lot more enthusiastic to get ready and train for
\nthis motherf\u2014-er who\u2019s gonna knock me out or I\u2019m gonna knock his
