Last Friday, Spanish news outlet
\nABC<\/a> broke the news that Joel
\nAlvarez<\/a> (23-3) would be throwing down with Yaroslav
\nAmosov<\/a> (29-1) at UFC 328. The welterweights will toe the line
\non May 9 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, and it is
\nunclear at the time where the two will be placed on the billing.
\nThe promotion confirmed<\/a>
\nthis bout on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Featherweight-turned-lightweight Alvarez moved up to 170 pounds in
\nOctober 2025 after having missed weight a few outings prior, and he
\nbattled Vicente
\nLuque<\/a> at his new division. The Spaniard overcame Luque on the
\nscorecards in a truly bizarre outing where Alvarez was briefly
\nawarded the TKO victory in the opening frame, only for referee
\nOsiris Maia to second-guess himself and call a punch an eye poke.
