Alexandre
\nPantoja<\/a>\u2019s arm was dislocated and got set back to position
\nwithin seconds. <\/p>\n

Pantoja put his flyweight title on the line against Joshua Van<\/a>
\nin the main event at
\nUFC 323<\/a> this past December. It was less than half a minute into
\nthe fight when Van caught a kick from Pantoja and dumped him. As
\nPantoja put his left hand to the ground to balance, he fell back in
\nagony with a visibly dislocated arm. Pantoja gestured to referee
\nHerb
\nDean<\/a> to stop the fight just before Van was considering landing
\nfollow up shots. <\/p>\n

Pantoja revealed that he had set his arm back in place just as Dean
\nintervened at 0:26 of the opening round. Pantoja briefly regretted
\nasking Dean to stop the fight. However, a firm believer in God,
\n\u201cThe Cannibal\u201d believes everything played out the way it did for
\nhis well being. Pantoja believes that while he could have fought
\nwith an injured arm, it could have resulted in more serious
\ninjuries.<\/p>\n

Could Be Worse<\/h2>\n

\u201cHe knew I hurt my arm,\u201d Pantoja said on “The Ariel Helwani Show.\u201d<\/a> \u201cAnd then when he
\nunderstood I was starting to put my arm back, then he understand,
\n\u2018I need to try to punch Pantoja, because Pantoja could come back.\u2019
\nBut at that point, I\u2019ve trained MMA all my life, and I knew if I
\ntried to fight with my arm dislocated like that, could be worse for
\nme\u2026 And then I say to stop the fight, and the time I say to stop
\nthe fight, my arm back to its position. And I said, \u2018Oh my God, why
\nI stop the fight.\u2019… But I believe in God all the time. Maybe it
\ncould be worse, maybe I could fight with one arm, but my arm would
\nbe so much mess after that.\u201d <\/p>\n

Van (16-2) is now scheduled to defend his title against Tatsuro
\nTaira<\/a> (18-1) at UFC 327<\/a>
\non April 11 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida. Meanwhile,
\nPantoja (30-6) is recovering well from his injury, and is expected
\nto get a title shot when he returns later this year. <\/p>\n
