This former
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> titleholder\u2019s nose has become
\nthe instructions in \u201cRocky Horror Picture Show\u201d song \u201cTime Warp\u201d:
\nit\u2019s just a jump to the left, and then a step to the right.<\/p>\n

Merab
\nDvalishvili<\/a> has never had the straightest of noses, and he
\nwears his crooked beak like a badge of honor. As a result of his
\nmany hard training sessions at his gym of Serra-Longo Fight Team,
\nincluding those where he dueled with fellow ex-champ Aljamain
\nSterling<\/a>, his nose took a lean towards the right. On Wednesday,
\nDvalishvili posted a
\nvideo<\/a> of himself driving to the hospital to get his face
\nchecked. In what appeared to be a non-April Fools\u2019 gag, he had his
\neven more tilted snout stuffed with bloody tissues, and he
\nexplained what happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a good day, and what a stupid accident\u2026again,\u201d Dvalishvili
\nsaid in his video first displaying the damage to his schnoz. \u201cFive
\nyears after [my previous nose break], my nose is f—ed up even
\nworse [laughs]. As you see, it\u2019s even more cracked the same
\ndirection, and when I touch [my nose], my bones are broken inside.
\nAnd one side, I can\u2019t even breathe. I\u2019m gonna do x-ray now, I\u2019m
\nsure UFC will help me with that, even [if] I don\u2019t have a fight
\ncoming up. I\u2019m gonna try the surgery to fix this nose, and let\u2019s
\nsee how it goes. First time I broke my nose, it was in professional
\ndebut, and now, I was just sparring, and I got kneed [to break it
\nagain].\u201d<\/p>\n

I\u2019m gonna deal with it<\/h2>\n

The Georgian subsequently provided a video and two images of his
\nx-ray results, showing the completely obliterated olfactory organ
\nin full display on the screens. On the video, the attending
\nphysician described the damage visibly reminiscent of Olaf Alfonso<\/a>
\nand Andrei
\nArlovski<\/a>, while noting that it was difficult to determine
\nexactly which breaks happened in the past and which snapped as a
\nresult of his taking a knee to face during his last sparring
\nsession. He also posted one more video on his way home, discussing
\nthe results he received and what his plan was next.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did my x-ray, and my x-ray shows that my nose is broken in two
\nplaces,\u201d \u201cThe Machine\u201d explained. \u201cI just saw [a] doctor, a nose
\nsurgeon, and he said he will fix my nose. And [to make it straight]\nhe has to re-break other bones too, and it will take one more year
\nto heal up. Of course, I don\u2019t want to do that. Otherwise, he said
\nkeep it that way and you can do surgery after you retire. But, I
\nsaid I\u2019m not going to do retirement in the next 20 years, so I
\nguess I\u2019m going to keep my nose even more cracked [than] it used to
\nbe before, and I\u2019m gonna deal with it, and I\u2019m still going to
\ncompete at wrestling tournament against Henry
\nCejudo<\/a> at RAF [8] and that\u2019s it.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the 35-year-old noted, he currently has no fight on the books.
\nThe man who rightfully calls himself \u201cThe Machine\u201d secured the
\nbantamweight throne at the end of 2024 and put it up for grabs four
\ntimes in 2025. While he successfully defended with decisions over
\nUmar
\nNurmagomedov<\/a> and Cory
\nSandhagen<\/a>, along with a submission of Sean
\nO’Malley<\/a>, his fourth proved to be his undoing. In a rematch
\nwith Russian ex-champ Petr Yan<\/a>,
\nDvalishvili could not overcome his rival again. He ultimately
\nsuffered his first loss since 2018 to surrender his crown when he
\nfell short on the scorecards. He does plan on returning to
\ncompetition of sorts when he wrestles another ex-UFC champ in
\nCejudo on April 18 atop RAF 8.<\/p>\n
