Former ACA welterweight champion Abubakar
\nVagaev<\/a> has signed with the
\nUFC<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Vagaev recently confirmed the UFC signing with a contract in his
\nhands. The 32-year-old thanked Khamzat
\nChimaev<\/a> for playing a pivotal role in his UFC signing. Vagaev
\nalso expressed his gratitude to Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, who
\nis a close ally of Chimaev.<\/p>\n

One Era Ends, Another Begins<\/h2>\n

\u201cAssalamu alaikum, friends. Now that I have a contract with the UFC
\nin hand, I can announce \u2013 I’m joining the UFC,\u201d Vagaev wrote on
\nInstagram. \u201cMy time in the ACA League has come to an end. I’m
\nrelinquishing my championship reign. It’s been an exciting 12 years
\nand nearly 30 fights. I’ve won the belt three times, and that’s our
\nlegacy. Thank you to the organization for understanding my
\nsituation and being accommodating. I’ve always been accommodating
\nto my beloved League. Now it’s time to move in a different
\ndirection. I express my sincere gratitude to Ramzan Akhmatovich
\nKadyrov for his constant support throughout my athletic journey. I
\nalso want to thank Khamzat
\nChimaev<\/a>, who played a key role in my signing with the UFC.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vagaev was a champion at WFCA, which was later acquired by ACA.
\nCurrently on a three-fight winning streak, Vagaev won the ACA
\nwelterweight title for the second time against Albert
\nTumenov<\/a> in his latest outing this past February. Chimaev was in
\nthe corner of fellow Chechyan Vagaev during his title
\nwin. <\/p>\n
