Wellmaker is scheduled to welcome debutant Juan Diaz<\/a> at
\n
\nUFC Fight Night 276<\/a> on May 16 in Las Vegas. Marcel Dorff

Prospects Collide<\/h2>\n

Wellmaker (10-1) gained early stardom as a welder who kept his
\nfull-time job despite earning a
\nUFC<\/a> contract on
\nDana White’s Contender Series<\/a> in 2024. Wellmaker finally quit
\nhis job as a welder after earning a performance bonus with a
\nfirst-round knockout win over Cameron Saimaan in his UFC debut last
\nyear. Wellmaker then made a quick turnaround to score another
\nbonus-winning knockout over Kris
\nMoutinho<\/a>. Wellmaker was a massive favorite in his latest outing
\nagainst UFC debutant Ethyn Ewing<\/a>
\nthis past November. However, Wellmaker\u2019s hype train was derailed as
\nhe suffered his first professional loss against Ewing in a huge
\nupset. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Diaz (15-1) earned his contract with a highlight-reel
\nspinning back elbow knockout of Won Il Kwon<\/a>
\non the Contender Series last year. The Peruvian prospect is riding
