Pereira (7-1) took on Hailey
\nCowan<\/a> (7-5) in a bantamweight clash at
\nUFC Fight Night 272<\/a> in Las Vegas. \u201cGolden Girl\u201d shut Cowan\u2019s
\nlights out with a flush flying knee late in the second round. The
\n20-year-old says her first win inside the Octagon feels like
\nearning an A in her school test. <\/p>\n

Pereira was undefeated going into her UFC debut against Montserrat
\nRendon<\/a> at Noche UFC last year. Pereira suffered her lone
\nprofessional loss against Rendon via a hard-fought split decision.
\nPereria recently revealed that he went to therapy to figure out
\nwhat she was lacking that had led to the loss. However, as therapy
\nprogressed, Pereira realized that she already had the necessary
\nskillset to win. Pereira says it is her renewed self-belief that
\nled to her first UFC win on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Finding Self Belief<\/h2>\n

  \u201cAfter my last fight, I started seeing a therapist,\u201d Pereira
\nsaid in a post-fight interview with the UFC. \u201cI wanted to know why
\nI didn\u2019t win my UFC debut, what I was missing, what did I have to
\ndo to improve and start getting wins. She asked me, \u2018What do you
\nthink is missing?\u2019 And I didn\u2019t know what to say. I always pushed
\nmyself so hard, I always did my best. And as therapy went on, I
\nfound out that nothing was missing. I had the power, I had the
\nconfidence, I had the level, I just needed to believe in myself. So
\nI think I\u2019m here today with the win because I was able to believe
\nin myself and my skills.\u201d
