Renato “Moicano” Carneiro<\/a> showed no mercy on his American Top Team
\ntraining partner.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian veteran authored a near flawless performance in the
\nUFC Vegas 115 main event, as he submitted Chris
\nDuncan<\/a> with a face crank 3:14 into the second round of their
\nlightweight bout at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
\n\u201cMoicano\u201d returns to the win column after suffering back-to-back
\nlosses against Beneil
\nDariush<\/a> and Islam
\nMakhachev<\/a> in his previous two Octagon appearances.<\/p>\n

Carneiro (21-7-1, 13-7 UFC) began methodically, tagging his
\nScottish foe with jabs while occasionally closing the distance for
\nclinches and takedown attempts. \u201cMoicano\u201d picked up the pace in
\nRound 2, sitting Duncan (15-3, 6-2 UFC) down with a left hook
\nbefore quickly taking his adversary\u2019s back. It was a miserable time
\nfor Duncan from there, as Carneiro peppered him with punches in
\nhopes of creating an opening for a choke. A bloodied Duncan
\ndefended for as long as he could, but an ill-advised backward elbow
\ngave Carneiro all the opportunity he needed. In a split-second the
\nBrazilian had the submission secured, and Duncan surrendered in
\nshort order.<\/p>\n

Jandiroba Holds Off Ricci<\/h2>\n

Virna
\nJandiroba<\/a> relied on her bread and butter to outgrapple Tabatha
\nRicci<\/a> en route to a unanimous decision triumph in the UFC Vegas
\n115 co-main event. All three judges scored the bout in favor of the
\nformer Invicta FC title holder: 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28. With the
\nwin, \u201cCarcara\u201d rebounds from a championship loss to Mackenzie
\nDern<\/a> at UFC 321 last October.

There was no secret to Jandiroba\u2019s game plan. The 37-year-old
\nBrazilian grounded Ricci (12-4, 7-4 UFC) in each frame, finishing
\nwith a total of six takedowns. On the feet, Jandiroba held her own,
\nperhaps aided by the impending threat of her wrestling and
\ngrappling. Ricci turned up the heat in the final stanza, showcasing
\nmore aggressive striking and better defensive wrestling, but her
\npush was halted by one final Jandiroba takedown late in the period.
\nFrom there, Jandiroba took her opponent\u2019s back and hunted for a
\nchoke before Ricci reversed into top position just before the end
\nof the round.<\/p>\n

Yakhyaev Remains Undefeated<\/h2>\n

Abdul-Rakhman
\nYakhyaev<\/a> continues to roll downhill, as he dispatched Brendson
\nRibeiro<\/a> with a rear-naked choke in their light heavyweight
\nbout. The 25-year-old Turkish prospect forced Ribeiro (17-10, 1 NC,
\n2-5 UFC) to ask out of the fight 2:52 into the opening stanza.
\nYakhyaev (9-0, 2-0 UFC) has finished his last five fights inside of
\na round.<\/p>\n

Ribeiro tagged his opponent with a few solid strikes early, but his
\nmomentum came crashing to a halt when Yakhyaev absorbed a head kick
\nand took the Brazilian to the canvas. From there, \u201cHunter\u201d worked
\nhis way to the back, landing ground-and-pound until he found the
\nideal opening to lock in the choke. Once the squeeze was applied,
\nRibeiro tapped in a matter of seconds.<\/p>\n

Ewing Cruises Past Estevam<\/h2>\n

On the heels of a eye-opening upset win over Malcolm
\nWellmaker<\/a> at UFC 322, Ethyn Ewing<\/a>
\nproved he is no fluke in his sophomore promotional outing. \u201cThe
\nProfessor Finessor\u201d put on a clinic, removing Rafael
\nEstevam<\/a> (14-1, 3-1 UFC) from the ranks of the unbeaten with a
\ntechnical knockout victory in their featured bantamweight
\nencounter. A slick shot to the liver and a follow-up hammerfist
\nended the contest 1:44 into the third round.

Ewing (10-2, 2-0 UFC) got better as the fight progressed. Utilizing
\nsuperior movement and crafty combinations, the 28-year-old CSW
\nTraining Center product had Estevam on the defensive for the
\nmajority of the bout. After nearly securing a finish at the end of
\nRound 1, Ewing turned up the heat, tagging his foe with right hands
\nalmost at will while mixing in elbows and knees when the
\nopportunity arose. Ewing dominated the second stanza, then kept the
\nmomentum going in the final frame, right up until he landed the
\npivotal body punch that essentially ended the fight. It was a
\ndelayed reaction from Estevam, who shuffled backward a couple steps
\nbefore collapsing to the canvas. Ewing has won his last 10
\nprofessional fights.<\/p>\n

McMillen Swarms Zecchini<\/h2>\n

Sean O\u2019Malley training partner Tommy
\nMcMillen<\/a> made a strong first impression in the Octagon,
\nfinishing Manolo
\nZecchini<\/a> inside of a round in a featherweight showdown. The
\n28-year-old Dana White\u2019s Contender Series alum brought the show to
\na close 3:57 into Round 1, keeping his undefeated record intact.
\nZecchini (11-4, 0-2) has been finished in both of his UFC
\nappearances.<\/p>\n

Both featherweights set a frentic pace from the beginning of the
\nfight. While Zecchini fought with heart and aggression, the rangy
\nMcMillen (10-0, 1-0 UFC) was able to gradually impose his will in
\nexchanges behind long punching combinations and knees in close
\nquarters. Late in opening period, McMillen secured a front
\nheadlock, pushed the Italian against the fence and unloaded with a
\nbarrage of offense. Two knees to the body sent Zecchini to a
\nturtled position, and a few more follow-up punches sealed the
\nvictory for the Montana native.<\/p>\n

Delano Outduels Ruchala<\/h2>\n

Former Legacy Fighting Alliance standout Jose
\nMauro Delano<\/a> (17-3, 1-0 UFC) was victorious in his promotional
\ndebut, taking a unanimous verdict over KSW vet Robert
\nRuchala<\/a> (11-3, 0-2 UFC) in a featherweight scrap. All three
\njudges submitted scorecards in favor of the Brazilian Top Team
\nrepresentative: 30-26, 29-27, 29-27.<\/p>\n

Delano took a round to find his bearings, but once he did, he was
\nable to tag Ruchala with punching combinations to the head as well
\nas variety of kicks \u2014 bloodying his foe\u2019s mug in the process.
\nRuchala, who had success stringing together combinations behind a
\ncreative toolbox of kicks, made a critical mistake in Round 3, when
\nhe defended a takedown attempt by grabbing the fence with both
\nhands. That led to an immediate point deduction, essentially ending
\nthe Pole\u2019s chances at victory.<\/p>\n
