Tsarukyan was recently asked to pick the winner of a potential
\nfight between two of his favorite fighters \u2013 Nurmagomedov and
\nMakhachev. Tsarukyan believes Makhachev would beat Nurmagomedov as
\nhe is more well-rounded. Tsarukyan also noted that Makhachev would
\nhave the added advantage of having Nurmagomedov in his
\ncorner. <\/p>\n

A Tough Call<\/h2>\n

\u201cIslam. Because he is more well-rounded. And he has Khabib in his
\ncorner,\u201d Tsarukyan said on Adin Ross\u2019 stream.<\/p>\n

Lifelong friends and teammates, Nurmagomedov (29-0) and Makhachev
\n(28-1) are two of the greatest fighters to have ever graced the
\nsport. Initially honed by Nurmagomedov\u2019s father, Abdulmanap
\nNurmagomedov, they both reached the pinnacle of the sport.
\nAbdulmanap had correctly predicted that Makhachev would take over
\nthe
\nUFC<\/a> lightweight division after his son, Khabib\u2019s retirement.
\nKhabib retired as the undefeated UFC lightweight champion in 2020
\nafter his father’s demise. Makhachev became the lightweight
\nchampion in 2022 and defended his title four times before moving up
\nto welterweight, where he won the title against Jack
\nDella Maddalena<\/a> this past November. <\/p>\n

Tsarukyan (23-3) lost a decision against Makhachev in his
\nshort-notice UFC debut in 2019. Tsarukyan subsequently went on to
\nestablish himself as the most deserving lightweight contender,
\nearning a title shot in a rematch against Makhachev at UFC 311 last
\nyear. However, Tsarukyan pulled out a day before the fight due to
\nan injury, which has cost him heavily. The UFC brass has since
\nsidelined \u201cAhalkalakets\u201d from the title picture, even after
\ndefeating Dan Hooker<\/a>
\nthis past November. <\/p>\n
