Garcia is scheduled to fight Diego Lopes<\/a>
\nat
\nUFC White House<\/a> on June 14. Garcia wants to call for a title
\nshot against Volkanovski if he gets past Lopes. Garcia believes
\nVolkanovski should ideally retire now. However, if Volkanovski
\ndoesn\u2019t retire, \u201cMean Machine\u201d vows to make the 37-year-old hang up
\nhis gloves if they meet inside the Octagon. While Garcia isn\u2019t
\nlooking past Lopes, he sees chinks in Volkanovski\u2019s armor now.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m calling for that strap,\u201d Garcia said on the “Smash Cast\u201d podcast<\/a>. \u201cGive me that strap,
\nthat\u2019s what I want. Honestly, I feel like Volk should retire.
\nBecause if he doesn\u2019t, I\u2019m gonna retire him\u2026 But again, I got a
\nhuge tall task ahead of me. I\u2019m not gonna look past Diego
\nLopes<\/a>, that would be stupid to do it. But in my head every time
\nI see Volk, I\u2019m like, ah, he\u2019s not the Volk of old. And there\u2019s
\nways to beat this guy. And I think if I can get to him I can do
\nit.\u201d <\/p>\n

Known for his unusual knockout power at featherweight, Garcia
\n(27-8) is on a seven-fight winning streak with six finishes.
\nMeanwhile, Lopes (19-5) has sandwiched a win over Jean Silva<\/a>
\nbetween two title losses against Volkanovski in his last three
\nbouts.<\/p>\n

Volkanovski (28-4) defended the featherweight title five times in
\nhis first run before falling to Ilia
\nTopuria<\/a> in 2024. The Australian won the vacant title against
\nLopes after Topuria moved up to lightweight. Volkanovski most
\nrecently defended his title in a rematch against Lopes at
\nUFC 325<\/a> this past January. <\/p>\n
