\nChimaev<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Sean
\nStrickland<\/a> (30-7) is scheduled to challenge Chimaev (15-0) for
\nthe middleweight title in the main event at UFC 328<\/a>
\non May 9 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. While
\nChimaev is a heavy favorite, many believe Strickland could pose a
\nserious threat to the Chechen-born champion. <\/p>\n

Pyfer wants Strickland to defeat Chimaev. Pyfer doesn\u2019t like the
\ninactivity of Chimaev, who is set to defend his title for the first
\ntime since winning it against Dricus Du
\nPlessis<\/a> in August 2025. Pyfer believes Strickland\u2019s elite
\ndefense will be his strongest weapon against Strickland. While
\nStrickland has lost twice against Du Plessis, Pyfer believes the
\nSouth African was a stylistically unsuitable matchup for
\nStrickland.<\/p>\n

Defense Wins Championships?<\/h2>\n

\u201cI want Sean Strickland to win,\u201d Pyfer said on the “Death Row MMA\u201d podcast<\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t like the
\ninactivity of Khamzat\u2026 I think more than anything, Sean\u2019s got good
\ndefense. Doesn\u2019t really get clipped too much where he is taking
\nmassive shots and then it builds up over time. I think DDP was a
\nwild card for him cause he is just as awkward. But I got Sean
\nStrickland. I\u2019m not even gonna say it, but I\u2019m not a fan of the
\nother side.\u201d <\/p>\n

Strickland lost his title to Du Plessis in 2024 and failed to
\nregain it in their rematch last year. Strickland has since
\nrebounded with anupset win against Anthony
\nHernandez<\/a> this past February. Meanwhile, Chimaev almost walked
\nthrough every
\nUFC<\/a> opponent so far, barring Kamaru
\nUsman<\/a> and Gilbert
\nBurns<\/a>. <\/p>\n
