Still an athletic specimen at 48, Romero has made a career in
\nbare-knuckle boxing since his most recent MMA bout in February
\n2024. However, the former
\nUFC<\/a> title challenger recently revealed that his father never
\nwanted him to try boxing, even though he loved it. Romero\u2019s father
\nwas concerned about the potential damage his son could suffer in
\nboxing. However. \u201cSoldier of God\u201d went to try his hand at pugilism
\nregardless.<\/p>\n

Difference in Opinion<\/h2>\n

\u201cI wanted to try boxing, but my father said no,\u201d Romero told Red
\nCorner MMA. \u201cHe said, \u2018I don\u2019t want you to do boxing because it\u2019s
\nvery hard. Punches in the face, punches in the head.\u2019 He told me
\nmany times, \u2018Son, you don\u2019t need to do this.\u2019 I said, \u2018Dad, I love
\nboxing.\u2019 When I see bareknuckles, I see it like boxing. The only
\nthing is there are no gloves. He said, \u2018No, my son, don\u2019t do that.\u2019
\nBut doesn\u2019t matter. My father said no, but now I made it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Romero, a former Olympian, has won three straight bouts in Dirty
\nBoxing and bare-knuckle boxing before returning to his wrestling
\nroots on the RAF mats. Romero most recently suffered a
\ncontroversial decision loss against Vagab
\nVagabov<\/a> in an IBA bare-knuckle fight in Russia last month.
\nHowever, Romero\u2019s decision loss is under review by a special
\ncommittee. <\/p>\n
