\u201cI\u2019m not sure if I\u2019m retired or not,\u201d Jones said in an interview
\nwith UFC Brasil. \u201cI\u2019m just taking it day by day just trying to kind
\nof figure out my body and how I feel, things like that. I\u2019ll tell
\nyou what, being here at the
\nUFC<\/a> right now definitely has given me this fire that I haven\u2019t
\nfelt in a little bit, so it feels very good to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBones\u201d hasn\u2019t competed since November 2024, when he defended the
\nheavyweight crown with a third-round stoppage of Stipe
\nMiocic<\/a> at UFC 309. While UFC CEO Dana White expressed
\nconfidence that a Jones-Tom
\nAspinall<\/a> championship matchup would be booked, that pairing
\nnever came to fruition. Jones briefly retired last June only to
\nre-enter the drug testing pool when plans for the
\nUFC White House<\/a> card were announced.<\/p>\n

Perspectives on how close Jones was to reaching an agreement to
\ncompete at the June 14 event differ, but the former UFC
\ntwo-division was ultimately left out in the cold when the card was
\nannounced. While White claimed that Jones was never seriously
\nconsidered for the UFC White House card, \u201cBones\u201d has said that the
\npromotion didn\u2019t meet his financial demands. Jones was diplomatic
\nwhen addressing that dispute in his latest interview, though he
\nreiterated that the money offered wasn\u2019t to his liking.<\/p>\n

\nPereira<\/a> at the event. Instead, \u201cPoatan\u201d will lock horns with

\nco-main event.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, I feel like I wanted to be compensated in a way that I
\nwasn\u2019t, and we just had a disagreement and that happens in life,\u201d
\nJones said. \u201cBut you know what, I\u2019m a big fan of Alex Pereira. I
\nlove the way he carries himself, he\u2019s just such a classy fighter,
\npotential opponent, person, big fan of him.\u201d<\/p>\n
