After nearly being finished early by his upstart<br \/>\nopponent, Blaydes rallied for a strong finish in Round 1. However,<br \/>\nHokit gradually took control over the final 10 minutes to capture a<br \/>\nunanimous decision triumph in a memorable slugfest.<\/p>\n<div id=\"adViAi\">\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p> Blaydes paid tribute to his opponent in a brief statement on social<br \/>\nmedia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEmptied the clip, threw the gun,\u201d Blaydes wrote on Instagram.<br \/>\n\u201cThat SOB is tougher to kill than he looks.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>One for the Record Books<\/h2>\n<p>When all was said and done, Blaydes (177) and Hokit (174) combined<br \/>\nto land 351 significant strikes, the most ever for a three-round<br \/>\nUFC heavyweight fight. They also set a record for most combined<br \/>\nsignificant strikes attempted (595).
