Before Gina Carano<\/a>
\nand Ronda
\nRousey<\/a> were booked to fight on Netflix as part of Most Valuable
\nPromotions\u2019
\nfirst MMA event<\/a>, there was some discussion that the fight might
\nhappen under the
\nUFC<\/a> banner.<\/p>\n

According to Rousey, that possibility ended with the Paramount deal
\n\u2014 which eliminated the UFC pay-per-view model for numbered events.
\nNow, Rousey and Carano will meet on May 16 as part of the first
\never MMA card on Netflix.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t the first time Rousey vs. Carano in the UFC was
\ndiscussed. When \u201cRowdy\u201d was still UFC champion, Dana White
\nconfirmed that there were discussions to bring Carano into the
\npromotion for a high-profile fight between the two stars more than
\na decade ago. Ultimately, the bout didn\u2019t come to fruition.<\/p>\n

As for Carano, she admits that competing in the UFC would have been
\na big deal.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really wanted to. I really wanted to do the UFC, make that
\nwalk,\u201d Carano said on “The Ariel Helwani Show.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

However, since Carano wasn\u2019t really part of those discussions, she
\ncan\u2019t really say how close they were to becoming a reality this
\ntime around.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don’t know. That would be between Ronda and Dana,\u201d Carano said.
\n\u201cShe really led the way. She led the way one thousand percent. I
\njust said yes.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then when their negotiations weren’t going anywhere, she
\ncalled me personally. And then we had dinner and we actually talked
\nabout it, because we call them the suits. The suits can get in the
\nway.\u201d<\/p>\n

No Stopping Her<\/h2>\n

Carano admits to occasionally watching Rousey\u2019s fights or acting
\nendeavors, but she wasn\u2019t keeping especially close tabs on the
\nformer UFC champion in recent years. Fighting Rousey wasn\u2019t really
\non her radar, either. Carano will be returning to MMA for the first
\ntime since 2009, and now that the date is on the horizon, the fight
\nhas her full attention.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe’s been following me and tracking me and probably knows a whole
\nlot more about me than I know about her. And this is a fight that
\nshe’s always wanted,\u201d Carano said. \u201cIt wasn’t like something I had
\nto do, but now that I’m doing it, I’m so glad. I’m so glad that I’m
