Nothing quite gets the blood flowing in the combat sports world
\nlike a tournament.<\/p>\n

Rizin Fighting Federation<\/a> made a trio of big
\nannouncements on Thursday ahead of what it plans to be a massive
\nfall. For starters, it put Rizin 54 on the books, which is set to
\ngo down at the Toyota Arena in Tokyo on Aug. 11. No fights are
\nofficial for the event, although it did schedule the first round of
\nthe 2026 heavyweight tournament for that date.<\/p>\n

Three of the four big men are official for that tournament, with
\nRizin possibly hashing the fourth member out at an upcoming
\nLandmark event. First repping the largest standard weight class
\nwill be karateka Mikio Ueda<\/a>
\n(5-3), who put himself on the map in 2021 by attempting to complete
\nthe 100-man kumite where he had to fight and defeat 100 different
\nfighters in consecutive combat. Ueda reached the 60th athlete and
\nthe doctor ruled he could no longer continue. As a Rizin fighter,
\nthe 30-year-old has notched four knockouts under its banner, but
\nall three of his defeats have been by stoppage as well.<\/p>\n

The second heavyweight up for a prize of 5 million yen\u2014this
\ncurrently converts to about $31,337\u2014is another fighter who largely
\nmade his bones as a Rizin fighter. Just 3-0 as a professional,
\nOsaka, Japan\u2019s King
\nEdokpolo<\/a> will be entering into the heavyweight tournament. His
\npro debut came in March 2024, where he stomped out a man who called
\nhimself Terry
\nWakanda<\/a> in 32 seconds. A pair of knockouts in the Rizin ring
\npropelled him into this large opportunity.<\/p>\n

A Rizin staple takes third<\/h2>\n

Taking the third spot, with matchups still to be determined, will
\nbe Rizin veteran Tsuyoshi
\nKamiyama<\/a> (9-4), also known as \u201cTsuyoshi Sudario,\u201d a sumo who
\nonce reached the juryo division back in 2018. Leaving that sport
\nbehind in 2019 in part due to his poor conduct towards teammates
\nand staff, the 28-year-old signed onto MMA in 2020 and has not
\nlooked back. All 13 of his pro outings have come in the Rizin ring
\nor cage, with eight of nine victories by knockout.<\/p>\n

The fourth and final athlete has yet to be selected. The promotion
\ndid add that it has booked a heavyweight tilt on June 6 at Rizin
\nLandmark 14<\/a> between Ryo Sakai<\/a>
\n(15-14) and \u201cTakakenshin\u201d Satoshi
\nKamiyama<\/a> (3-4)\u2014the latter the younger brother of the
\naforementioned \u201cSudario.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finally, Rizin set the date for a celebration event called
\n\u201cNaniwa\u2019s Super Revival Festival,\u201d which will feature athlete
\nappearances, fan events and other activities typical for an expo
\nsurrounding an MMA event. It will kick off on Sept. 10 at the
\nKyocera Dome in Osaka, and the promotion has indicated that
\nMikuru
\nAsakura<\/a>, Ren
\nHiramoto<\/a>, Ren
\nSugiyama<\/a>, Yutaka
\nSaito<\/a>, Chihiro
\nSuzuki<\/a> and Rena Kubota<\/a>
\nwill all be present. Super
\nRizin 5<\/a> will take place following the festival\u2019s
\nconclusion.<\/p>\n
