\nCosta<\/a> isn\u2019t buying Jiri
\nProchazka<\/a>\u2019s \u201cmercy\u201d narrative for his title loss against
\nCarlos
\nUlberg<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Prochazka (32-6) and Ulberg (14-1) clashed for the vacant light
\nheavyweight title at UFC 327<\/a>
\nearlier this month in Miami. Ulberg visibly injured his right knee
\nearly in the first round, and it seemed Prochazka\u2019s victory was
\nonly a matter of time. However, Ulberg caught Prochazka flush with
\na combination and finished him in one of the biggest
\ncome-from-behind wins of recent times. <\/p>\n

Prochazka later claimed that he was showing mercy after he saw that
\nUlberg\u2019s knee was compromised. Costa thinks Prochazka chose the
\nwrong word to describe his demeanor. \u201cBorrachinha\u201d believes
\nProchazka got emotional when he saw Ulberg\u2019s injured leg and
\nstarted playing around. According to Costa, the Czech wasn\u2019t taking
\nthe fight seriously when he noticed Ulberg\u2019s compromised leg.
\nHowever, Costa doesn\u2019t think Jiri was being merciful as he was
\nclearly trying to finish Ulberg.<\/p>\n

Overconfidence?<\/h2>\n

\u201cI think Jiri lets his emotions go high and sometimes take over,\u201d
\nCosta told Submission Radio<\/a>. \u201cAnd sometimes too much
\nemotions can blind your perception of the real situation. I think
\nthat happened with Jiri. When he saw his opponent hurt in front of
\nhim, he started to act differently. He started pointing at the
\ncenter; he kind of didn\u2019t take the fight as seriously as it needed
\nto be taken. He started to play. But that is not mercy. I think he
\nchose the wrong word to describe himself. That was not mercy,
\nbecause he kept trying to hurt his opponent more and more. He was
\nkicking that leg. But he became a little bit overconfident and he
\nwas caught.\u201d <\/p>\n

Ulberg is currently recovering from an ACL surgery in his right
\nknee. This has led to concerns about the new champion potentially
\nhaving to vacate his title due to inactivity. <\/p>\n
