\nUFC Vegas 116<\/a> main event.<\/p>\n

Zalal dropped a unanimous decision to the former bantamweight champ
\non Saturday night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Sterling controlled
\nthe majority of the action with a blend of aggressive striking and
\ndominant grappling, bringing an end to Zalal\u2019s eight-fight
\nprofessional winning streak.<\/p>\n

Zalal reacted to the loss on social media, posting a photo of
\nhimself surrounded by loved ones on his Instagram account.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlhamdulillah!! Thank you guys for all the support,\u201d Zalal wrote.
\n\u201cI\u2019ll be back. Keep smiling.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sterling then replied with a message of his own in the
\ncomments.<\/p>\n

“Always love my brotha! You pushed me to new limits and I hope I
\npushed you too! Wallahi you will be champion one day!\u201d Sterling
\nwrote.<\/p>\n

After seeing mixed results during a 3-3-1 stint in his first
\ngo-round in the
\nUFC<\/a>, Zalal emerged as a featherweight contender with five
\nstraight triumphs within the Las Vegas-based promotion \u2014 a run that
\nincluded victories over veterans Calvin
\nKattar<\/a> and Josh Emmett<\/a>.
\nA victory over Sterling would have likely propelled Zalal into the
\nnext level of the featherweight division.<\/p>\n
