\nsystem for him. <\/p>\n

Durden faced Jafel Filho<\/a>
\non a week\u2019s notice at
\nUFC Fight Night 274<\/a> at the Apex in Las Vegas. Durden was a
\nmassive +350 underdog going into his clash against Filho. However,
\nDurden earned a huge upset win via unanimous decision in a
\nclosely-contested bout. <\/p>\n

Durden says that while most fans counted him out, his wife believed
\nin him. While Durden flew down from his training camp at American
\nTop Team in Florida, his wife traveled from Atlanta to join him in
\nVegas. \u201cCustom Made\u201d says that his wife is an integral part of his
\nteam, ready to share the wins and losses with him.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of people didn\u2019t believe in me, 8-to-1 underdog,\u201d Durden
\nsaid in a post-fight interview with the UFC. \u201cBut the only person
\nthat mattered, believed in me, and that was me and my beautiful
\nwife. She packed her stuff up, came from Atlanta, I came from
\nFlorida from training camp and we jumped in here and we got it done
\ntonight\u2026 She\u2019s a big part of the team. The main part of the team.
\nThere\u2019s the fighter and then there\u2019s people in the background that
\nhelp you. And my wife helps me every step of the way. She believes
\nin me and no matter what, if we fail we both fail, and when we win
\nwe both win. That\u2019s how we roll.\u201d<\/p>\n

Confident in His Skills<\/h2>\n

While Filho was the better grappler on paper, Durden was able to
\nhold his own on the ground against the Brazilian. Durden reveals
\nthat he was advised not to engage with Filho on the ground.
\nHowever, Durden notes that he is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt
\nin his own right.<\/p>\n

\u201cLot of people advised me not to go to the ground with him,\u201d Durden
\nsaid in a post-fight interview with the UFC. \u201c\u2018You\u2019re cooked, Cody
\ndon\u2019t go to the ground with him. He\u2019s a way better grappler than
\nyou.\u2019 That\u2019s not what I just saw in that ring\u2026 I\u2019m a BJJ black belt
\nunder Diego Douglas
\nLima<\/a> in Jucao. I have a ground game as well.\u201d <\/p>\n

This was a much-needed win for Durden (18-10) that saw him rebound
\nfrom a four-fight losing streak. Meanwhile, Filho (17-5) has now
\ndropped two of his last three bouts. <\/p>\n
