Ulberg (14-1) traded leather with Jiri
\nProchazka<\/a> for the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 327<\/a>
\nearlier this month in Miami. Ulberg evidently compromised his knee
\nearly in the fight, and victory seemed to be a mere inevitability
\nfor Prochazka. However, \u201cBlack Jag\u201d caught Prochazka with a clean
\ncombo and finished him to snatch a victory from the jaws of
\ndefeat. <\/p>\n

Six days later, Ulberg underwent surgery for a torn ACL in his
\nright knee. This led to concern about Ulberg potentially having to
\nvacate his title due to inactivity. However, the Kiwi is recovering
\nimpressively at the
\nUFC<\/a> Performance Institute, under the supervision of Dr. Heather
\nLinden, UFC\u2019s vice president of sports medicine. Ulberg is happy
\nwith the progress in his recovery. While Ulberg initially expected
\nto take six to eight months to fully recover, he hinted that he
\nmight recover faster.<\/p>\n

Healing Fast<\/h2>\n

\u201cI’ve done the groundwork, mentally, years ago, so I know how to
\nput myself in the right mind frame,\u201d Ulberg told the UFC. \u201cWorking
\nwith the PI, the staff have been amazing. Just real positive about
\nthe progress and the rehab. So yeah, it’s an ACL. We went into the
\nsurgery thinking that, \u2018Hey, this could be saved between six to
\neight months or so longer for some,\u2019 but with the progress that
\nwe’ve got at the moment, it’s only been a week now, and we’re
\nmoving pretty good. I think we’ve got a good formula going, and the
\nbody’s healing really fast.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ulberg is undefeated in 10 straight outings with seven finishes,
\nsince his lone career loss in his UFC debut in 2021. <\/p>\n
