Sterling (26-5) dominantly defeated Youssef
\nZalal<\/a> at
\nUFC Fight Night 274<\/a> last weekend. Something unusual occurred at
\nthe pre-fight press conference that captured the attention of fans
\nand pundits. Sterling had placed two bottles of his \u201cFunk Harbor\u201d
\nliquor in front of him at the presser. However, a UFC staff member
\nsuddenly asked Sterling to remove the bottles, and \u201cFunkmaster\u201d
\nobliged without any fuss. <\/p>\n

Sterling recently revealed that he had permission from
\nUFC<\/a> executive Hunter Campbell to display his bottles, which he
\nhad been doing for his past few fights. Sterling claims he has
\nbarely had any issues with the UFC staff, barring a stray incident
\nwhen he was bantamweight champion. Sterling says the UFC staff
\nmember who recently asked him to remove the bottles later made it
\nup to him. According to Sterling, he could have easily gotten
\nconfrontational, but decided not to, as it wouldn\u2019t have helped
\nanyone.<\/p>\n

A Solid Relationship<\/h2>\n

\u201cThat was a weird one,\u201d Sterling said on \u201cThe Ariel Helwani Show.\u201d
\n\u201cHunter told me I could do it in the past and I’ve done it for the
\nlast four fights. I was kind of confused\u2026 They were like, \u2018It\u2019s not
\na sponsor.\u2019… I was like, \u2018You\u2019re lucky I love you Nabi.\u2019 They
\ntake care of us behind the scenes. They are always pleasant for me
\nto work with. I\u2019ve had only one incident with one other worker
\nbefore\u2026 They were being kind of an a**.  And I was champ at
\nthat time and they were trying to violate me. I was like, \u2018Bro, na
\nwe\u2019re not doing that.\u2019 I just try to handle everything with class
\nas best as I can. I could easily flip the script and just be that
\nguy. But it doesn\u2019t get anybody anywhere. She did right by me
\nafterwards and allowed me to take some photos with the UFC team.
\nShe made up for it, and I spoke to her afterwards.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since the UFC 2015 deal with Reebok, fighters are not allowed to
\nwear logos of private sponsors on their gear, limiting their
\nsponsorship opportunities. <\/p>\n
