Still a youngster at 26 years of age, Quillan
\nSalkilld<\/a> does not want to waste any time in his Ultimate Fighting Championship<\/a> career.<\/p>\n

Salkilld (12-1) faced his biggest step up in competition by getting
\nmatched with Beneil
\nDariush<\/a> (23-8-1) in the co-main event at
\nUFC Perth<\/a> on Saturday. While Salkilld closed as a betting
\nfavorite, Dariush surprised fans by dropping the local athlete
\nearly in the first round. While Dariush controlled Salkilld against
\nthe fence for a while, the Australian maintain his composure while
\ndisplaying excellent takedown defense. Salkilld finally created
\nseparation and didn\u2019t take much longer to finish Dariush with a
\nvicious combo followed by ground-and-pound.<\/p>\n

Salkilld, who celebrates a finish rate of 75% as a professional,
\notherwise believes he is a calm person in general. The 26-year-old
\nnever loses composure, irrespective of whether things are going his
\nway or not. Salkilld said in his post-fight interview:<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s just part of my personality,\u201d the victor expressed. \u201cWhen
\ns–t hits the fan, I don\u2019t really stress too much. I stay calm in
\nevery situation. And I think that just spoke tonight\u2026 When it
\ndoesn\u2019t go well, I\u2019m all good. When it goes well, I don\u2019t get too
\nahead of myself. I always stay calm and composed no matter the
\nsituation.\u201d<\/p>\n

This marked Salkilld\u2019s fourth performance bonus in five victories
\nsince making his promotional debut last year. The young man has won
\ntwelve straight outings since his lone professional loss in his pro
\ndebut in 2021. Salkilld wants to zoom to the top of the UFC
\nlightweight ladder, and he has his sights set on bigger things. The
\nlightweight prospect is eyeing a top-10 ranked opponent next,
\npossibly even a main event booking. Salkilld added:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not looking to take my time, I\u2019m looking to jump in headfirst.
\nSpeedrunning this s–t, that\u2019s what I\u2019m looking to do. Hopefully
\nthey give me another big opportunity, another big name, brighter
\nmoment, hopefully a main event next, that would be wicked.\u201d<\/p>\n
